Inside MTV EMAs afterparty with Greggs snacks and surprising star still partying at 4am

HAPPY MONDAYS party lover Bez was one of the oldest guests at the MTV EMAs — but it didn’t stop him having a wild one.

I can reveal the 60-year-old percussionist and dancer, who attended the Sunday night ceremony with bandmate Shaun Ryder, was the last one standing in the early hours of yesterday at the after-show celebrations.

The awrds night took place at Manchester’s Co-op Live arena.

My insider said: “Bez and Shaun headed to the bash when the event finished and were milling around in the VIP area.

“Shaun didn’t stay as late, but Bez was still enjoying himself when the lights came on at 4am.

“Everyone wanted to have a chat with him and he was the life and soul of the party. For ages he was hanging out with the band Blossoms but he stayed even later than them.

“Maya Jama and Leomie Anderson were there for a bit, but Bez showed the youngsters how to party.”

He has toned down his wild ways over the years and said in 2022 that he is sober through the week, so I imagine he will have been feeling fine yesterday, if not a bit tired.

Thankfully, Greggs was the surprising official backstage caterer, so he was treated to as many sausage rolls as he wanted.

Earlier in the evening, Bez and Shaun were interviewed by Rita, and Bez said the pair have been approached about having their own show, following success as a double act on Celebrity Gogglebox.

Asked if that was a possibility, he told Bizarre: “I think we’re too controversial to give us a show of our own.”

But Shaun said: “We’re still looking for the right format, aren’t we Bez? We get asked every week.”

Following the news of Oasis’ reunion, they also said that Happy Mondays could soon return, 44 years after forming

Shaun teased: “We’ll probably do one sooner or later.”

RITA A CHANGED WOMAN

RITA ORA knocked it out of the park as awards host – wearing an impressive 11 outfits over the course of the evening.

But it was the tribute to her late friend Liam Payne, who she collaborated with on the 2018 song For You, that people will remember.

Rita, who at that point was wearing a smart black suit, said: “He had the biggest heart and was always the first person to offer help in any way that he could.

“He brought so much joy to every room he walked into and he left such a mark on this world.

“So let’s just take a moment to remember our friend Liam.”

You can catch up on the ceremony on Pluto TV and Paramount+.

OLLY ALEXANDER, a surprise show at pre-party Homobloc, admitted his Eurovision song was a bit of a flop.

After singing Dizzy, which came 18th this year, Olly said: “That went down a lot better than it did at Eurovision.”

Awks, but true.

A JED BLOCKBUSTA

FROM peanut butter and jam to chilli and chocolate, there have been plenty of strange combos over the years.

But perhaps none more so than Busta Rhymes and Jedward.

Global Icon Award winner Busta posed for a snap with the Irish twins – and they may soon be getting back in touch as they relaunch their music career.

In news I’m sure you’ll all be cheering about, the brothers, who rose to fame on The X Factor 15 years ago, told us they are making a bid for the Christmas No1 with a song called Lovemas.

They said in an exclusive interview: “It’s catchy. It’s an inclusive song – not for any religion or anyone specific.

“It’s just about being with your friends and family and having a Lovemas.”

On their chances of being the festive chart topper, the pair added: “I think it could be a No1 in your heart. Honestly, if we get the right charity or radio behind it.

“It has a dance, and people like to dance.”

Meanwhile, Busta announced on stage that he is returning with a new album called Dragon Season on November 29 and revealed he never wants to retire.

He’s still got it.

MANCHESTER City and England forward Chloe Kelly was a special guest at the EMAs – but you won’t ever catch her making a move into pop.

She told us on the red carpet: “Definitely not. I’ve seen myself do karaoke.”

TYLA CHILLS IN MANCHESTER

SOUTH African chart-topper Tyla was one of the big winners on the night.

But it was a jumper she needed rather than her three trophies for Best R&B, Afrobeats and African Act.

In an exclusive chat, Tyla said of the host city Manchester: “I just came in and went straight to work so I haven’t seen anything. I’m excited to be here but it’s very cold.”

She delivered a stellar performance of Water and Push 2 Start.

And there is more good news for fans, as they too may soon be able to see her play live.

She is well on her way to full fitness again after cancelling a tour earlier this year due to an injury.

Tyla said: “I’m still recovering, I’m not 100 per cent. I’m feeling way better and I’m just excited to be getting back on stage.”
