Internet in Hysterics at Dog's Reaction to Bath Time: 'Chaos'

The internet has been left in stitches at a dog's reaction to bath time—with an unexpected twist at the end.

Ronin is an Australian Cattle Dog, also known as a Heeler, who lives in the United States with his owner, Mitzi—and he is not a fan of baths. The pup regularly features on Mitzi's TikTok account, @mitzichu, and a video shared on November 5 has proved popular on the site with over 17,000 likes.

It shows Ronin relaxing on the couch, but looking warily at his owner, as she asks: "Hey Ronin, do you need a bath?" His reaction is instant, becoming totally submissive and clearly begging not to be given a bath, as his mouth twitches before he raises both front paws and shows his belly.

It's not enough to deter his owners however, who insist he needs a bath—but Mitzi then becomes distracted as a man in the background lets out an enormous burp, cutting the video short. Mitzi captioned the clip: "Too much chaos."

TikTok users were in stitches at the video and its unexpected ending, with one laughing "burp made a shock wave," and another writing that they "flinched."

"There's so much going on," another laughed.

Plenty defended Ronin, insisting the pup did not need a bath, as one put it: "As Ronan's attorney we demand no baths and more pets immediately."

And one shared his own trick for bathing his dogs: "Take em to a lake with some shampoo and throw the ball a few times! Shampoo between throws!"

Australian Cattle Dogs are known for their loyalty and tenacity, having originally been developed to control and move livestock. Noted for being intelligent enough to even outsmart their owners, the American Kennel Club states the breed is related to Australia's native wild dog, the Dingo.

And while some dog breeds are more inclined to love water more than others, bath time can cause anxiety regardless of the breed.

A report from Hill's Pet Nutrition states there are multiple reasons a dog may hate bath time, from having had one bad experience to finding the loss of control upsetting.

Other reasons may include the unfamiliarity of bath time, or the dog picking up on its' owners stress.
