iPhone 17 Series Will Get the Biggest Update That iPhone 16 Didn’t Have

2 weeks ago 5

Apple is done with the iPhone 16 series, and now the company has geared up to unveil its next iPhone line, iPhone 17, with one of the biggest updates next year. The tech giant is expected to include iPhone 17 Air next year.  However, a new report surfaced online, stating that the company is anticipated to launch the next-gen iPhone 17 series with an LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) screen with a high refresh rate. Apple is known to add LTPO or high refresh rate screens to only its Pro models, including iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. But if we believe the reports, the company could unveil its upcoming iPhone 17 series with LTPO technology.

iPhone 17 with 120Hz refresh rate

According to a report by South Korea’s ETNews, Apple is planning to install LTPO displays in all models of its upcoming iPhone 17 series. LTPO is a technology that allows OLED displays to support different refresh rates with low power consumption. This means that even the base model of the upcoming series can come with a promotion display with a variable refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.

The LTPO technology was first introduced in iPhone with the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max in 2021. The latest iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus feature 60Hz displays. If reports are to be believed, the upcoming iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 slim could be the first non-pro models from Apple to feature high refresh rate.

Another essential feature that the tech giant could introduce with the iPhone 17 series is that they can feature a 2nm chipset built by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) next year. Additionally, the upcoming iphones could arrive with more RAM, including 12GB of RAM and a vapour chamber cooling system.
