Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has faced a major outage for the second time this month disrupting services like booking tatkal tickets, online payment, and cancellation. Many passengers complained on social media that they were unable to book tickets. Booking of Tatkal tickets takes place at 10 AM and this is the time when people face challenges in booking their tickets. However, nothing has been confirmed from the official IRCTC website.

India is the largest IT hub in the world, yet it cannot fix a website. You can collect taxes but fail to provide proper services in return. What a shame!@IRCTCofficial @RailwaySeva @RailMinIndia #IRCTC #Down #Rail pic.twitter.com/AAl8ljmSr5

Users received unable to perform action message while booking ticket. Some users also received maintenance messages at the time of opening tickets. This is the second time the IRCTC website has gone down. The first incident happened on 9 December with similar messages displayed on the website. Users complained about the issue on X(Twitter), some suggesting it to be a cyberattack.

Downdetecter, a website responsible for monitoring outages on online platforms also detected a significant disruption at the IRCTC website. It reported and confirmed the spike in problems during morning hours. In addition, multiple users also reported about the price hike in premium tickets which is available at double the standard rates.

To recall, the maintenance of the IRCTC website takes place during the night, usually at 11 PM. But as soon as users started booking Tatkal tickets at 10 AM, they started receiving maintenance messages. Some users also said that the IRCTC has the most pathetic service and suggested that IRCTC handle the traffic more competently rather than displaying maintenance messages on the website.
