Is There Mail on MLK Day?

3 hours ago 6

Martin Luther King Jr. Day falls on January 20, and the day is a holiday to celebrate and remember King's activism and achievements during the Civil Rights Movement.

However, since the day is a federal holiday, it could impact your regularly scheduled mail in addition to closing local stores and restaurants.

Why It Matters

On federal holidays, the U.S. Post Office suspends services, causing regularly scheduled mail and packages to be delayed.

This could mean many packages have to wait a little longer to make their way to you this week.

Major banks, including Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Capital One, are closed for the holiday.

Likewise, all federal and state courts will be closed. For individual companies, however, it's up to the employer whether workers get the day off.

This year, MLK Day falls on the same day as President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration.
