Welcome to Before I Head Out, a monthly series in which fashion editor Anneliese Henderson rounds up the snaps she's taken of her favorite outfits before heading out the door of her Los Angeles home.
I'm not sure about you, but the minute my birthday month begins, I celebrate for 31 days straight. Since I'm constantly treating myself (and I'll never turn down a promo email for free stuff), it should come as no surprise that I did a Nordstrom haul. It is my favorite retailer after all. Plus, it's not only my birthday month, it's also the start of actual fall weather, so my closet was in dire need of a good refresh. Soon after clicking "purchase" on my haul, packages full of cozy knits, classic trenches, knee-high boots, and more arrived straight to my doorstep (and of course, they fit into my wardrobe seamlessly). Keep scrolling to see how I'm styling my latest finds.
This 'fit is inspired by my co-worker Kristine, who never fails to show up to the office wearing pieces I inevitably ask about. I can't even begin to tell you how much a good denim-on-denim look means to me. I'm so excited to lean into this versatile trend this fall—I could go for a look like this one, with baggy jeans and a loose-fitting top, or I could try straight-leg dark-wash jeans with a western-style button-down.

When I put on an outfit like this, I just feel like I have my act together, you know? Maybe it's the perfectly tailored trousers, the cashmere fabric, or the stunning, yet understated Toteme bag. Neutrals are my bread and butter, and this outfit is a testament to that. I'm heading out to a work meeting in this outfit, but I could easily wear it to dinner, happy hour, you name it.

This jumpsuit is 100% out of my comfort zone, so I'm surprised I loved it so much. It was a piece that snuck in at the end of my "add-to-cart" spree and I'm glad it did. First of all, the fabric is amazing. It's stretchy and thick, and feels way more expensive than it actually is. Second, it took me under 10 seconds to feel chic in this look. All I had to do was put this on, add some flats and a handbag and I was out the door. There was no questioning whether I should tuck or untuck a shirt or if I should add a belt—it was as easy as ever. Dare I say I'm now a die-hard jumpsuit fan? I think I just might be.

Short Sleeve Jumpsuit
It's not fall without a trench coat, and you can quote me on that. It's a piece that instantly makes you look elevated. While this trench is pure perfection, I also loved what I paired underneath it. This short-sleeve drop-waist dress is proof that you don't have to say goodbye to dresses just because the weather has cooled down. Instead of the summer sandals that would have gone beautifully with this dress a few months ago, I opted for black suede knee-high boots. Paired with my Toteme bag (again!) I knew I'd get compliments as soon as I walked out the door (and I was right).

A cozy sweater in the fall is obviously a must, but a cozy red sweater? That's everything. Once you put this on, you'll never want to take it off. The knit is thick and has a good amount of weight, so keep that in mind if you want to wear a jacket over it—you don't want to overheat! I kept this look casual with a pair of trusty Agolde jeans, white Sambas, and a baseball hat. This Favorite Daughter hat is also perfect for bad hair days.
