Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway shared a light-hearted moment on the show, revealing her mother still harbours hopes for a workplace romance between her and a colleague.

During Thursday's episode, while discussing Elton John's accolade as Time's 2024 Icon of the Year, conversation turned to past concerts reports the Mirror.

Both Kate and Richard Arnold reminisced about attending an Elton John gig together, with Richard recalling, "We went to the Royal Opera House and we were papped! I think the world back then, what a world it was, believed we were together."

To which Kate quipped: "My mum is still hoping! and so is yours be honest!" Her response earned laughter in the studio as Richard called Elton's concert 'magnificent'.

He playfully asked, "That would've been 20 years ago when you and I first dated? " Kate also mentioned seeing Elton more recently with her late husband Derek Draper.

However, it was Richard Madeley who surprised everyone by admitting he had seen Elton in concert back in 1974, prompting awe from his co-hosts. Kate responded with admiration, "You topped it all! " Richard Madeley continued to express his amazement at that vintage performance, saying, "I've never been to a concert like it in my life before or since. '74, he was absolutely on top of his game, amazing."

Kate joined in the praise, labelling the 77-year-old musician a 'legend'. Last year, Elton John invited Kate Garraway and her husband Derek Draper, along with their children Darcey and Billy, to be his guests of honour at his Farewell tour in London.

During the concert, Elton dedicated the song 'Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me' to Derek and his health journey, a moment that left the family in tears due to its unexpectedness.

However, Kate admitted on Smooth Radio that she wasn't sure they'd be able to attend the concert because of Derek's health. She revealed that it took weeks of planning and even on the day, Derek seemed too weak.

When Elton appeared on stage, Derek began to cry and squeeze Kate's hand, refusing to wear ear defenders so he could hear the music. Despite a moment when the concert seemed overwhelming for Derek, he insisted on returning after a brief break outside.

Unfortunately, Derek passed away earlier this year after a long battle with the long-term effects of Covid, with Elton John being one of the many celebrities who attended his funeral in April.
