ITV Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid forced to announce breaking news on rocket

17 hours ago 2

Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid and her co-host Ed Balls had the task of delivering some breaking news on Monday's programme.

In the midst of discussing the day's headline stories, Susanna and Ed broached the subject of Jeff Bezos' eagerly awaited rocket launch. However, as they covered the story, Susanna announced that Bezos' rocket launch had been postponed, with a 'breaking news' ticker flashing across the screen.

Susanna informed the audience: "This is the founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, it's a Blue Origin rocket. It's due to be launched, it's already been delayed twice, it's now been delayed for a third time this morning."

She went on to detail the importance of the launch, stating: "This is after years of setbacks but apparently this is a new phase in the commercial space market. The hope is that the rocket will compete with Elon Musk's SpaceX project", reports the Mirror.

Susanna then said: "Very good, it is expected to launch in 12 minutes time, oh, 32 minutes, I thought it was 7:27am. Oh, it's been delayed again!" Subsequently, a 'breaking news' banner was displayed on Good Morning Britain, reading: "Breaking news: Jeff Bezos rocket launch delayed."

Her comeback was joyfully announced last week in an Instagram post, where she confirmed her return for Monday 6 January with a lovely image of a candle and the words: "Happy New Year! See you on Monday."

In addition to her anticipated return, Susanna surprised fans with a new look; sharing a selfie sporting longer locks, she wrote: "NEW YEAR NEW HAIR! After having THE CHOP in 2023, pop idol Cher told me women should keep their long hair so I am turning back time and going LONG for 2025 with hair extensions put in by @christinabhair. Let me know what you think - and see you tomorrow @gmb."

While Susanna enjoyed her break, Kate Garraway stepped in as her replacement on Good Morning Britain, presenting alongside Richard Madeley.
