Lorraine Kelly was left utterly speechless on her show this Thursday morning. During the programme, as ITV's leading lady Lorraine chatted with entertainment correspondent Lucie Cave to catch up on the latest goings-on in showbiz, her colleagues had a delightful surprise planned for her.
Lucie broke the news that it would be the audience's last chance to see the host before her birthday over the weekend. Lucie announced: "So, we have a couple of people here just to wish you Happy Birthday!"
Doctor Hilary Jones made an appearance in the studio, and Dr Amir Khan joined in via video call, hinting that there were even more people ready to offer their birthday wishes, including Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden.
The BBC ballroom professional beamed on-screen in a pre-recorded clip as she said: "Happy Birthday Lorraine! You truly deserve all the love in the world, and I'm sending you all my Welsh love, mwah!"
The warm messages kept coming, taking Lorraine by surprise, featuring celebs like Boy George. After the heartfelt tributes, a touched Lorraine responded: "Oh, that was so lovely! That was great."
Sharing a snippet of her birthday itinerary, Lorraine revealed that she will be celebrating her milestone with close family. "On Saturday, to celebrate being 65, me and Billie are going out, my wee granddaughter."
"We're going out! Rosie (her daughter) is coming as well, and her Steve is coming and my Steve. But essentially, it's me and Billie celebrating."
Dr Amir extended warm birthday wishes to Lorraine and shared his views on her evergreen charm. He remarked: "I think your secret to looking so lush is that you don't take yourself too seriously. You always have a laugh with things."
Lorraine concurred, reflecting on the notion that people could benefit from being sillier. During the programme, the beloved Scottish presenter received a touching tribute from her colleagues,reports the Mirror.
Presenting a plant, Dr Hilary disclosed that the thoughtful gift was named Grandma Rose. Despite its current appearance, Dr Amir assured Lorraine that it would flourish into a beautiful yellow flower.
He advised: "Because you are a grandma, I know it doesn't look like much now, Lorraine, but if you prune it right back, it will bloom next year. Put it in that gorgeous garden of yours so every time you go out to feed those beautiful birds in your garden, you'll see it in bloom."
Touched by the gesture, Lorraine appreciated the connection to her daughter Rosie and promised to plant the Grandma Rose in her garden.
Yet, Amy wasn't the only Strictly personality sending birthday cheer as Pete Wicks and Jowita Przysta later joined the celebration with a cake.
Delighted by the surprise, Lorraine exclaimed: "You angel! Thank you, a rainbow cake that's very appropriate. Thank you very much for that, it's beautiful."
