Jada Pinkett Smith debuted a daring new look during a recent date night with her husband, Will Smith.
The Red Table Talk star, 53, and her longtime husband, 56, attended a dinner outing with their friend Jay Shetty in Los Angeles last week, showing off her eyebrow transformation while at it.
Keeping her look casual with ripped denim jeans, a white top, and a brown Gucci bomber jacket, Jada paired her attire with gold earrings and neutral makeup, so neutral in fact that it looked as though she had no eyebrows.
Appearing to have bleached them blonde, the star looked in good spirits as she joked and hugged Will and Jay.
It’s a very different look for Jada, who usually has dark brown brows and has been known to dye her short hair different colours, including bleach blonde, pink and light brown.
The actress does, however, often sport a buzz cut due to her battle with alopecia, a disease where the immune system attacks hair follicles, causing balding on the head and/or hair loss on the body. Alopecia can be caused by many things, including genetics, hormonal changes, stress and other medical conditions.
She first confirmed her diagnosis in 2018 during an episode of her talk show, telling fans that ‘it was terrifying when it first started’ as she was ‘in the shower’ and ‘then just handfuls of hair’ began falling out.
‘I was just like, “Oh my God, am I going bald?”’ she said. ‘It was one of those times in my life where I was literally shaking with fear.’
Jada and Will’s outing is the first time they have been seen together in six months after facing intense controversy in their relationship since the Oscars in 2022 when Will infamously slapped Chris Rock for making a joke about Jada’s bald head.
While on stage, Chris joked that Jada looked like ‘G.I. Jane’ due to her bald head, resulting in Will storming on stage and shouting: ‘Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth,’ before hitting the comedian.
Jada, who revealed last year that she and Will had been separated but still married since 2016, appeared on The One Show and said the slap was that moment she realised she was going to stay with her husband.
‘I knew it was going to be an intense reaction,’ she said on the show. ‘And that was the moment that I decided that I was going to stay by his side.’
Reflecting on how the situation impacted her relationship with Will, she said: ‘You know, it’s funny how intense situations can amplify love, and it was a pretty difficult time, but it definitely drew us closer. So yeah, it’s crazy how things work.’
Despite being separated and living in different homes, the pair claim they have no intentions of making their split official.
During the promotion of her memoir, Worthy, last year, Jada told Today: ‘I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce.’ She added: ‘We will work through whatever, and I just haven’t been able to break that promise.’
Will told The Baltimore Banner: ‘Jada is the best friend I have ever had on this planet, and I am going to show up for her and support her for the rest of my life.’
The couple share children Jaden, 26, and Willow, 24, as well as Jada’s son Trey, 31, from her prior relationship with Sheree Zampino.
