Amazon Prime star James May has shared his thoughts on Jeremey Clarkson’s latest business venture. The 61-year-old is the proud owner of his own boozer The Royal Oak in Swallowcliffe, Salisbury.
He originally splashed out on the establishment back in 2014. James decided to purchase the pub so he could enjoy having a beer just a stone’s throw away from his home.
Despite being a publican for over ten years, James has shared that it has been tough for Jeremey, 64, who has just started out in the business. He claimed that it had cost the presenter thousands after shelling out a lot of his hard-earned cash on the refurb.
In an interview with The Telegraph, James was candid about them both owning British pubs. He said: “I gather he [Clarkson] has realised that running a pub is actually quite expensive.”
Before adding that he loves being able to say to people that he is able to pop in for a pint at his own tavern. James claimed although it may appear to others to be a bit “naff”, he is proud of what he has achieved.

“I just like being able to say I own a pub, even though it sounds a bit naff when a famous person off the telly says that sort of thing,” he continued.
The pair have worked together along with Richard Hammond for 22 years on renowned shows Top Gear and The Grand Tour.
However, they left fans devastated earlier this year when it was announced that they would no longer be working with one another.

The Grand Tour came to an end on Amazon Prime a couple of months ago with the hosts saying they wanted to focus their time on other projects.
On bank holiday weekend back in August, Jeremey opened the boozer in Oxfordshire and has since welcomed thousands of punters.
He renamed it from The Windmill to The Farmer’s Dog which ruffled some of the local's feathers after Clarkson had admitted he discovered the site was previously known for "dogging".
Jeremy splashed out a whopping £1 million on the premises and completely gutted it, giving it a glamorous new look.
The motoring expert has been honest about the battles he faced during the refurbishment, but he was left pleased when work was carried out ahead of schedule as he didn't expect the pub to open fully until winter but should be ready by Christmas.
