Jamie Foxx‘s hit song “Unpredictable” was released in the 2000s, and it has accurately depicted his life over the last year. Most recently, he suffered injuries during a scuffle at his birthday dinner.
The newly 57-year-old actor was celebrating with his family, including his daughters Corinne and Anelise, and former partner Kristen Grannis. They were at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills and reportedly someone sitting at another table threw glass at the In Living Color star, per the Los Angeles Times. The incident resulted in the Oscar winner requiring stitches on his face.
Law enforcement told TMZ that they were called to the restaurant around 10 p.m. What was originally reported as assault with a deadly weapon was determined to be a fight by the Beverly Hills Police Department. “The BHPD conducted a preliminary investigation and completed a report documenting the battery,” they stated. “No arrests were made.”
Jamie Foxx responded to the incident in an Instagram post. “The devil is busy…,” the graphic said. “But I’m too blessed to be stressed.” He went a bit deeper in his caption, writing “The devil is a lie. Can’t win here… thank you to everybody that pray and check on me… when your light is shining bright… they try to bring you darkness … but they don’t know that you’re built for it.”
He then shifted the tone of his post, expressing his gratitude for those who have been watching his new show What Had Happened Was, which is No. 1 on Netflix. Despite the unfortunate timing of Foxx’s incident and injuries, he is standing on positivity.
This comes over a year after he was hospitalized for an unnamed medical complication, which fans did not gain any clarity on until his Netflix show came out earlier this month. He joked about having a headache that caused him to be unconscious for 20 days. Ultimately, a visit to an Atlanta doctor allowed him to learn that he was bleeding from his brain and was at risk of dying. Thankfully, he is in full health now and not even alleged haters at his birthday dinner can steal his joy.
