Janey Godley is set to say her final goodbye to ''the city she loved" today.
The Scots star will be accompanied by a 100-strong female choir and best pal Shirley Doig on a "final tour" of Edinburgh.
Janey passed away surrounded by loved ones at the Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow on November 2 following a battle with ovarian cancer.
Last night (Thursday) Janey's daughter Ashley Storrie shared an update with fans, reminding them "everyone is welcome" as the late comic's hearse makes its way along the Royal Mile today and through the streets of the capital for one last time.
Ashley said: "Hello friends, Ashley here. This weekend is mum's funeral. I'll be heading to Edinburgh tomorrow to watch her car travel the royal mile.
"I'm sure I'll see some of you there and then on Saturday her funeral is in Glasgow. You're all welcome. It's what she wanted."
Janey's "final tour" farewell is taking place across two days, culminating in a private cremation in the west end of Glasgow on Saturday.
The hearse, organised by funeral directors Alexander Whitelaw & Co, will start Janey’s final farewell to Edinburgh from Lawnmarket at 2.30pm todaay. They will travel down The Royal Mile towards St Giles Cathedral and pause for reflection, before the all-female 100-piece Sound House Choir and friends sing.
From St Giles Cathedral, the hearse will then carry on to Cockburn Street, Market Street before heading back to Glasgow. Janey is then set for a St Andrew's Day send-off on Saturday with a service at St Mary’s Cathedral on Great Western Road at 10am.
The hearse and coaches will then leave for the crematorium and head along Great Western Road. A private service will be held at the crematorium.
Rather than flowers, Janey's wishes were for donations to be sent in for the Princess of Wales Hospice, where she spent her final days. Janey also asked for bright colours to be worn by mourners on the day of her funeral.
In a post on Ashley's instagram earlier this week, she revealed why it was so important the farewell is a chance for fans to come together.
She said: "Here’s the details of Janey’s final tour, thank you for all the love and kindness in this past week. For the past few years of Ma’s life, it was important to her that she shared her journey with everyone, to offer support for others on the same path and to highlight the symptoms of Ovarian Cancer – all of course in her very singular Janey style, with laughter and candour.
“So many of you who have travelled with us on this journey wish to bid her a final farewell, so here’s the details of my mum’s final tour, in the two cities she loved with all her heart.”
