Fans of Janey Godley were left heartbroken when the much-loved star tragically passed away in November.

Back in 2021, Godley shared her ovarian cancer diagnosis and began treatment, including a full hysterectomy in January 2022. By June, the comedienne announced she was cancer-free, but heartbreakingly, in December, Janey revealed that her cancer had returned.

She passed away on November 2, 2024, at the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow, aged 63. The comedy legend had been married to her husband, Sean Storrie, since 1980. Throughout her illness, she remained devoted to him, ensuring she was there for the man she had loved since her teenage years.

Known for facing adversity with humour, Janey tackled her diagnosis with her signature wit, even naming her stand-up show Why Is She Still Here?

Sadly, she had to cancel her autumn tour after disclosing to fans that she was "getting near the end of it." Moving into hospice care, she focused on receiving palliative care.

Godley took to X to connect with her fans, reflecting on her journey and expressing heartfelt gratitude to those who stood by her during the toughest times.

"It is devastating news to know I'm facing end of life, but we all come to an end sometime,” she admitted. Right up until the end, however, Janey and Sean showed each other support, staying true to the vows they'd made so many decades before.

Even as she neared the end of her journey, Janey took a moment on September 27 to honor her devoted husband, marking their 44th wedding anniversary with a heartfelt tribute.

It was to be their final one together. Sharing a photograph of herself as a smiling young bride, alongside another of her and Sean in their younger years, Janey wrote: "44 years ago two teens got married - all my love Mr Storrie happy anniversary".

Janey has previously spoken about what it's like to live with a husband on the autistic spectrum, offering a personal insight into the ups and downs of her home life. In a touching article penned for Medium, Janey told readers: "He faked to the world that he was regular member of society and inside waited for the world to catch him being the fake he always felt."

Even in her final days at the hospice, Janey took comfort from Sean's presence. Keeping social media followers updated from the hospice, Janey recently shared: "Husband's coming to see me today - as every day - the sheer love and outpouring of support also taking about death and living in a hospice is a brilliant thing - people need to have more dialogue around death and how families are affected at this time - it’s scary I know."
