Alex Spiro, the lead attorney representing Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter in his current sexual assault lawsuit, addressed the accusations made against their client in a press meeting Monday (Dec. 16) held at Roc Nation‘s NYC headquarters. The mogul has been accused of, alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs, raping a 13-year-old girl back in 2000 at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty.

According to Spiro, “It’s obvious Mr. Carter didn’t rape anyone,” first playing footage from the NBC exclusive interview where the accuser shares her story. He then breaks down its inconsistencies in detail, including:

The VMAs ended at 11:11pm, and based on the alleged location of the party, it would’ve taken at least an hour to arrive. Allegations also indicate that, if true, Jane Doe arrived, spoke with multiple celebrities, had a spiked drink, was assaulted by both Combs and Carter, found her bearings while inebriated, and left the house all within 37 minutes.

Jane Doe’s description of the home doesn’t match any of Combs’ properties at the time.

Jane Doe claimed that she met Benji and Joel Madden that night, who were on tour at the time.

Jane Doe claimed she snuck out the house to attend the VMAs and watched on a jumbotron outside. MTV did not construct a jumbotron for the 2000 VMAs.

Both Combs and Carter were photographed at commercial venues immediately following the awards show.

The conversation follows the Brooklyn MC releasing his second statement on the matter in light of his accuser admitting to inconsistencies in her story of the night in question.

“This incident didn’t happen,” Carter asserted in a statement Friday (Dec. 13), “and yet [Tony Buzbee] filed it in court and doubled down in the press. True Justice is coming. We fight FROM victory, not FOR victory. This was over before it began. This 1-800 lawyer doesn’t realize it yet, but, soon.”

Buzbee soon responded to Hov’s accusations, claiming the Jane Doe accuser was “vetted” and that she recalled the incident “to the best of her memory.” He also claims the accuser is willing to take a polygraph test.
