David Eason has been ordered to wear an ankle monitor following his Tuesday, December 10, court hearing after violating a domestic violence restraining order with estranged wife Jenelle Evans, a source close to the situation exclusively tells In Touch.
“This court date was in regards to him going to [Jenelle’s] property and trying to take her motorcycles, trespassing and breaking the no contact order,” the source reveals. “[David] asked for a continuance to get a public defender, but the judge was so mad at him that the judge ordered him to stay behind and ordered an ankle monitor so he can be on GPS.”
The insider tells In Touch the decision was ruled so “Jenelle can know that he is three miles from her property and three miles from anywhere that she is at. So, he is now wearing an ankle monitor, the next court date is January 28.”
Jenelle, 32, also weighed in on the development, exclusively revealing, “I’m happy the judge did what was right to keep my family and I safe.”
The 16 and Pregnant alum previously spoke with In Touch on November 13, when she first decided to take “legal action” against David, 36.
“I’ve tried so hard to find peace and move forward, but David’s harassment just doesn’t stop. He, his girlfriend, and their friends keep interfering in my life, and it’s affecting me and my family more than anyone realizes,” Jenelle told In Touch at the time via email on her behalf from her rep. “I’m left with no choice now but to take legal action to put an end to this. I didn’t want things to go this far, but if they’re going to keep dragging me into these toxic games, I’ll see them in court. I just want to be able to heal and live in peace.”
Jenelle and David’s divorce hit a breaking point in October when he trespassed on her North Carolina property, breaking the domestic protective order David was served in April. Accompanied by his girlfriend and a few friends, David went onto Jenelle’s property while she was away and took a motorcycle and other personal belongings. A sheriff’s deputy witnessed the debacle after permitting David to enter Jenelle’s property and collect his belongings. The official contacted the Teen Mom alum via her surveillance camera, where she was heard telling him that David was not allowed on her property.
“Yes ma’am, as long as you’re not here it’s OK. That’s why I was making sure you weren’t here,” the deputy replied.
David was later arrested and held on a $1,000 bond, which he posted the same day, TMZ reported on November 13.
The former couple split earlier this year after Jenelle filed for legal separation in North Carolina on February 23. David and Jenelle welcomed daughter Ensley in 2017, the same year they tied the knot in North Carolina in an outdoor wedding. The MTV star also shares son Kaiser with ex-boyfriend Nathan Griffith and Jace with ex Andrew Lewis.
