Jennifer Lopez & Ben Affleck Reach Divorce Settlement After Sweet Weekend Reunion

Less than six months after pop superstar and actress Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, the Hollywood couple has settled their divorce, TMZ first reported on January 6, 2025. The news broke one day after video emerged of the former “American Idol” judge smiling while visiting Affleck at his home.

Court documents obtained by People show that a judge granted Lopez, 55, and Affleck’s divorce nearly 20 weeks after she filed for a dissolution of marriage” on August 20, after the couple spent most of the summer apart. Divorce papers show Lopez listed April 26 as the date of their separation, People noted, with “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their breakup.

Lopez’s divorce filing occurred exactly two years after she and Affleck, now 52, held a lavish wedding ceremony in Georgia on August 20, 2022. It was a chance for family and friends to celebrate their nuptials, since the couple eloped one month before, on July 17, in Las Vegas.

Rumors of problems in their marriage began to build in the spring of 2024, after Lopez and Affleck hadn’t been seen together for weeks. By summer, it was clear there was trouble in paradise, as Lopez canceled her world tour and spent most of her time on the East coast while Affleck remained in Los Angeles.

According to TMZ, the couple did not have a prenup when they married. When Lopez filed for divorce at Los Angeles County Superior Court, she did so without a lawyer and requested no spousal support for either party.

TMZ reported that, according to their divorce settlement, Lopez and Affleck will each keep any assets they “individually acquired” during the marriage, including income they earned from their separate creative projects, from movies to music. Affleck will also hang on to his stake in his production company, Artists Equity, created with his friend Matt Damon in 2022, four months after marrying Lopez.

It’s not clear what will happen once they sell the $60 million home they purchased in June 2023. They listed the home one year later, before filing for divorce, per People, but it has not sold yet.

But one asset Lopez will definitely get is her name; Page Six reported that Lopez, who legally changed her last name to Affleck when they married, will revert back to her given name, Jennifer Lynn Lopez, once the divorce is finalized on February 20.

Jennifer Lopez Visited Ben Affleck & His Kids One Day Before Divorce Settlement

News of the settlement came one day after Lopez was spotted visiting Affleck’s Los Angeles home with one of the children she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony, 16-year-old Emme.

Lopez and Affleck were both seen smiling outside his home in photos published by Page Six, and Emme was seen happily carrying out a large present as they left.

The Daily Mail also captured video of Lopez hugging a child believed to be Affleck’s 12-year-old son, Samuel.
