Jennifer Lopez’s $68 million monster mansion has sat on the market for months with no takers and if or when it does sell, it’ll likely be at a humiliating loss. However, in the meantime, she still has to sleep there surrounded by memories of Ben Affleck and it’s killing her.
“She can’t wait to get the hell out of the house when she can and assumed it would have happened by now and someone would have snapped it up especially after the renovations and personal touches she added, but nothing’s happened,” a source exclusively tells In Touch. “Of course, she’s been told it’s only a select group of buyers who would be interested and have that kind of money, but it’s becoming increasingly frustrating being there.”
The insider continues, “The house is like a noose around her neck, and she feels trapped. She walks around the house and feels all the bad memories. Not even her weird voodoo magic has helped. The place still has imprints of Ben everywhere.”
The exes first purchased the home in May 2023, and the following year, their relationship began to crumble. Signs that Ben, 52, and Jennifer, 55, were headed for divorce began in May when the Maid in Manhattan star attended the Met Gala solo.
“The writing is on the wall – it’s over. They’re headed for a divorce, and for once, [Ben’s] not to blame,” a source exclusively told In Touch on May 15. “He’s focusing on his work and his kids now. Ben already moved out and they’ll likely have to sell the dream house they spent two years searching for. They’ll never stop loving each other, but she can’t control him, and he can’t change her. There’s no way it could have lasted.”
In July, the Chasing Amy star and J. Lo publicly listed their house for sale. The 38,000 square foot home features 12-bedrooms, 24-bathrooms and sits on five acres worth of land. Later that same month, Ben closed escrow on a $20 million property in the Pacific Palisades the same day as Jennifer’s birthday.
The “Waiting for Tonight” singer officially filed for divorce on August 20, exactly two years after they wed in a lavish ceremony in Georgia surrounded by friends and family. However, months later, their divorce has yet to be finalized.
“It’s been six months since she filed and nothing has been resolved, it doesn’t seem like they’re anywhere close to finalizing the divorce,” an insider revealed to In Touch on Wednesday, December 18. “They both said they wanted to do it amicably and have even talked a good game about wanting to consciously uncouple, but that plan seems to be out the window because they can’t agree on how to divide things up, which of course is affecting things.”
The source claimed that the Hustlers actress “thinks Ben ought to just give in to all her demands,” but he hasn’t done so yet. “It infuriates her that he’s trying to come out of this on top when he’s the one that left her high and dry.”
