Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s continued divorce proceedings aren’t stopping them from celebrating the holidays together. In fact, she’s planning on spoiling him this holiday season to prove they can live in peace and be friendly exes, a source exclusively tells In Touch.
“Jen loves the holiday season and she always goes all out,” the source explains. “Even though she and Ben aren’t together, she’s still planning to treat him and his kids like family. That means loads of extravagant presents and big gatherings with home-cooked meals.”
J. Lo, 55, filed for divorce from Ben, 52, in August after just two years of marriage. This followed them calling off their 2003 wedding and splitting for the first time in 2004. During the short period of time they were back together – the estranged duo reunited in 2021 – Ben and Jen’s kids from previous relationships developed a close relationship. He shares Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12, with Jennifer Garner while she has twins Max and Emme, 16, with Marc Anthony.
“Jennifer’s determined not to let the pain of the divorce dictate her actions,” the insider continues. “She has so much love for Ben and his kids, and her kids feel the same way, so she really wants to have a celebration with all of them together. She wants to prove that they can consciously uncouple and for her that means having a special holiday celebration together.”
The source says that Ben is “on board” with the idea of blending the families for the holidays. He has also remained amicable with Jen Garner, 52, since their 2015 split and is often seen spending time with her and the kids they share.
“Ben has been making a big effort to be nicer and more agreeable with J. Lo,” the insider concludes. “It helps that she’s been so wonderful to his kids since they split up. That has scored huge points with him and really softened his heart towards her.”
In September, Ben and Jen were spotted at lunch together with four of their children. The “Get Right” singer also took Ben’s eldest child, Violet, shopping in the Hamptons in July, despite privately dealing with issues in her marriage to the actor. In her divorce filing, she listed the pair’s separation date as April 26.
Earlier this month, Jennifer revealed that she also has other family members traveling to L.A. for the holiday season. “It was a pretty intense year for me and I’m most looking forward to spending time with my kids and my family coming out from the East Coast,” she told People on November 6. “The holidays are such a special time for us, and they’ve always been since I was a little girl. And I really look forward to those moments when I can be with my sisters and just relax and have fun and create new memories.”
Meanwhile, another source recently told In Touch that the Unstoppable star is ready to start dating again now that the divorce isn’t so fresh. “She’s not looking for a serious relationship for now,” the insider said. “But she is looking to have some fun.”
