Jennifer Lopez's Ex-Husband Ojani Noa Blames This Troubled Star for Their Divorce

Jennifer Lopez‘s first husband Ojani Noa hasn’t been heard from much over the years, but lately, he’s been chiming in public with his opinions about their marriage. He suddenly feels the need to offer his ex-wife dating advice, and now he’s dishing on their 11-month marriage from 1997 to 1998.

Noa appeared on Despierta America on Oct. 18 where he discussed the reason why they split up — and it involved another man. “Part of that divorce was Diddy’s fault,” he claimed on the show in Spanish and translated via Page Six. “When Sony came and paid her the millions she got, there was Puffy [Combs], who was going to be one of the producers of several tracks on the first album On The 6.” 

The 50-year-old actor added, “That’s where the deception, the lies, the separation started.” The couple was also dealing with a long-distance relationship since she was in Los Angeles opening [a] restaurant, and she was between Miami and New York working on the album.” “When I could, I would go to be with her. There, in that distance, in that separation, was where the deception started.” However, J.Lo’s relationship with Diddy began in 1999, a year after her divorce from Noa.

Noa wasn’t done criticizing his ex because he also blamed her for interfering in his career and future work. “I would ask Jennifer, ‘What did I do to you so that you have taken me to court, you have accused me, you have lied, you have created false things about me, and you have called several companies to throw me out and different television networks not to give me work? Why, if I have not done anything to you?’ Let her tell the truth, let her tell everything that happened,” he continued. 

It sounds like Noa has harbored ill feelings toward Lopez for close to three decades because he’s been quite chatty with the press lately. He told the Daily Mail in September that he sided with Ben Affleck in their divorce. “I could understand Ben. We would both try to get her ­confidence a little bit higher. “But she’s had four good ­husbands and she’s been loved before,” Noa shared. “So, I don’t know how much love she needs or how much love she’s still looking for.”

He then rudely offered her unsolicited advice about her love life which we are sure was annoying to hear in the headlines. “Stay single for a while, take 12 months off. If she meets someone new, maybe keep it private and not get ­married again,” he said while adding that he had “no bad feelings at all.” Is he sure about that? Lopez hasn’t mentioned Noa’s name for years after gave him a managerial job in 2002 at her ill-fated restaurant Madre’s in Pasadena. 

He was fired after six months on the job and eventually sued Lopez for breach of contract. Per CBS News, the case was settled for $125,000 and the acknowledgment that he would never speak negatively about their relationship. By 2007, the former duo was back in court because Noa was writing a tell-all book about Lopez which violated their prior settlement. He had to pay her $545,000 in damages and the permanent judgment that prohibited him from “criticizing, denigrating, casting in a negative light or otherwise disparaging or causing disparagement” to his ex. Yikes, it sounds like Noa is angling for another lawsuit.
