Jeremy Clarkson criticises government at farmers protest

Jeremy Clarkson sparked concern attending Farmers' Protest today in London – despite doctors' orders.

The TV personality recently had a life-saving operation on his heart after doctors discovered one of his arteries was blocked, and another was on the way there.

He rushed to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital when he started experiencing what he thought were the symptoms of a heart attack, and thankfully this meant he was able to get a stent put into his artery to increase bloodflow before his health deteriorated even further.

Sadly he recently suffered another unrelated setback, and has told the Telegraph he thinks he may have a slipped disc.

The Clarkson's Farm star directly disobeyed doctors' orders today to join a protest in Westminster against the Labour governments' recent inheritence tax changes.

The 64-year-old was seen heading up the march, which is being attended by around 20,000 farmers.

People in the agricultural community have gathered to express their dissatisfaction with an update to inheritance tax which was announced by Chancellor Rachel Reeves in the Autumn Budget.

The new policy will impose a 20% inheritance tax on farm estates valued over £1million, starting in April 2026.

This has worried farmers, as inheritance tax exemptions have historically allowed farms to be passed down from one generation to the next tax-free.

Jeremy was warned that attending the march could put further strain on his heart, but decided to ignore the advice of medical professionals in order to make his opinion known on this important issue.

He told the Sun: "I will be there, despite having letters from doctors telling me not to go on the march and saying I must avoid stress."

The farm-owner has been vocal about his disapproval of the new rules, saying that farmers had been "shafted" when they were announced.

Although he is now on a new diet of "weeds, seeds... and elderflower juice" in an effort to reverse the effects of aging, it seems his right to protest is not one that Jeremy is ready to give up for the sake of his health.

Jeremy has been forced to cut out red meat, chips, butter and chocolate, as well as increasing his exercise. He confessed he regards working out as “something you do when travelling from the car to the pub, or from the lunch table to the sitting room” in his column for The Sun.

Jeremy joked: “Apparently, when I’ve recovered from the operation, I must do more. I must even go on the sort of ‘walk’ where I end up back where I started. What’s the point of that?”

Meanwhile, the slipped disc in his back left Jeremy “barely able to move”.

In an emotional admission, Jezza said: “When the Grim Reaper poked his nose round the door, I decided that actually, I quite fancied living a little bit longer.

“I want to see my grandchildren grow up. I saw the dawn this morning and it was magnificent so I’d quite like to see a few more of those too.
