Jessica Simpson has been MIA recently at the exclusive Los Angeles school her kids attend, prompting chatter among parents that she may have separated from husband Eric Johnson.
The “With You” singer has three children with Johnson — daughters Maxwell, 12, and 5-year-old Birdie Mae, and son Ace, 11.
But a source told Page Six that Johnson has been attending school events solo over the past few months.
“In years past, Jess always attended events at the school either solo or with Eric,” the source said, “Never Eric alone. But recently it’s just been Eric.
“As you can imagine, there’s been a lot of gossip among the parents.”
Simpson, 44, has not been seen wearing her wedding ring in months, regularly posing for Instagram photos without it.
On Tuesday, TMZ posted video of a photographer asking Ashlee Simpson, Jessica’s sister, about growing buzz of a split, saying, “Is it true? Do you know?”
Ashlee responded with a simple “No.” The outlet also reported that two sources close to Simpson, a friend and an associate, have contacted LA-based divorce attorneys, claiming she is unhappy in her marriage, but she has yet to meet them herself.
Neither Johnson nor a representative for Simpson have replied to Page Six’s multiple requests for comment.
But Simpson has done nothing yet to dampen the rumors. On Monday she teased her return to music with a series of sultry photos on Instagram accompanied by a cryptic caption that read in part: “This comeback is personal, it’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve.”
Fans were quick to speculate on Simpson’s marital status.
“Is this j simp saying she’s single ?” one commented, while another replied, “I think her photos have been saying that for months.”
One more fan pointed out that Simpson shared the post on National Singles Day.
She last shared photos of her family all together in April.
Simpson was previously married to Nick Lachey from 2002 until they called it quits in 2006.
