Jessica Simpson’s friend told divorce lawyers singer wasn’t happy in her marriage to Eric Johnson: report

Speculation about Jessica Simpson’s marriage to Eric Johnson is continuing to mount.

According to TMZ, a friend of the “I Wanna Love You Forever” singer contacted a Los Angeles-based divorce attorney late last month and asked to arrange a meeting because Simpson, 44, was “unhappy” in her marriage to the former NFL player, 45.

The outlet doesn’t know whether the pal met with the attorney at Simpson’s request, but they’re told the “message to the lawyer was clear.”

A separate person on the mom of three’s team also reportedly contacted another LA-based attorney regarding “matters that were divorce-related.”

Per TMZ, Simpson has not made contact with either lawyer.

Page Six has reached out to Simpson’s rep but did not immediately hear back.

On Tuesday, TMZ asked Jessica’s sister, Ashlee Simpson, whether the couple was headed for divorce, to which she bluntly replied, “No.”

Earlier that day, Jessica shared a cryptic post on Instagram that fans believe hinted at their split.

“Interviews in my Nashville music room where I unearthed my singular magic,” she captioned the post.

“This comeback is personal, it’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve 🎶 🎼 🤍🖤,” she added.

Rumors of trouble in paradise for the pop star and Johnson first started over the summer when fans noticed that she hadn’t posted a photo of the former San Francisco 49ers player since his 44th birthday in September 2023.

At the time, Jessica wrote that her “heart is so taken” with Johnson alongside photos of him with their three kids: Maxwell, 12, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 5.

In September, the “Dukes of Hazzard” actress shared back-to-school photos of herself and her three kids but noticeably left Johnson out of the snaps.

Fans also noticed that Jessica had not been wearing her wedding ring for months in her social media posts — including a sultry mirror selfie in a pink corset with black lace over the cups and black lace bellbottom pants.

Jessica started dating Johnson in May 2010, while he was still married to his then-wife, Keri D’Angelo.

The “Irresistible” songstress and the former tight end tied the knot in July 2014.
