Following Lil Durk’s arrest on murder-for-hire charges the Mayor of Broadview revokes his key to the city only a week after he received it.
When Lil Durk was arrested on charges of murder-for-hire social media immediately called out the fact he recently received keys to Chicago suburbs. While the future isn’t predictable a drill rapper receiving keys to the city is questionable for many. Despite his weak social media presence Durk had several run-ins with the police during his rap career. In December of 2022, Atlanta DA Fani Willis dropped charges against the rapper following the death of King Von.

According to Complex, following Lil Durk’s arrest his key to the city of Broadview was rescinded.
“While the American system of justice grants everyone the presumption of innocence until proven guilty in a court of law, in the Village of Broadview, the court of public opinion of residents has even higher moral and ethical standards of behavior,” said Broadview Mayor Thompson in a statement.”
As expected, Durk is presumed innocent, but the City would rather hand keys to those who would never find themselves in that situation in the first place. Broadview Mayor Katrina Thompson revealed the partnership with Lil Durk’s nonprofit would also come to an end.
“And our public partners must also reflect the same uncompromising standards demanded by our residents. Given the news that Durk’ Lil Durk’ Banks has been arrested in Florida and charged with murder for hire, the Village of Broadview is withdrawing our honorary ‘key to the village’ granted to Durk and is terminating our partnership agreement with his youth organization, Neighborhood Heroes Foundation. As mayor, protecting Broadview’s interests and upholding the values of residents is job number one.”

Durk’s indictment is trickling out on online following the arrest of several OTF members related to the 2022 shooting targeting Quando Rondo. Allegedly one of the members involved wore a wire for police on several occasions.

Authorities believe the shooting was retaliation for the murder of Chicago rapper King Von. Allegedly a credit card used by the suspects in the retaliation was linked to Durk and OTF. Reportedly Durk’s arrest came after the attempted to flee the country after the original arrest of OTF members.
