Joe Budden Issues Statement After Being Charged With Lewdness

Podcaster Joe Budden has issued a statement via his attorney, addressing the Edgewater Police Department’s press release, revealing he was charged earlier this month for lewdness.

 “The allegations against Mr. Budden are a minor charge, not even resulting in an arrest. A charge Mr. Budden is looking forward to beating in court on the merits, not in the press,” Budden’s attorney, Nima Ameri told TMZ. “The Chief’s comments are reckless and, in our opinion, racially motivated.”

Officers say the media personality was charged with lewdness after he was allegedly caught completely naked in the hallway of his apartment building. His neighbor (and their minor daughters) were reportedly able to see Budden via their Ring camera.

On his podcast, Budden revealed earlier this month that he had gotten into trouble after a sleepwalking incident.

“I just sleptwalked somewhere I shouldn’t have sleptwalked,” he said at the time.

“Our research has not shown a single press release on a disorderly person charge on the police website this year. His choice to single out Mr. Budden in our opinion is self-motivated and based off of Mr. Budden’s race and celebrity status,” Ameri added.
