Jon Richardson has made a jaw-dropping remark about single life after his split from Lucy Beaumont.

The former couple stunned fans when they announced in April they were bringing their nine-year marriage to an end. The pair share eight-year-old daughter Elsie.

Last week, Jon appeared onstage at a comedy show and declared her was “happy being single”. The 42-year-old dad was hosting a special gig on Sunday for Absolute Radio and appeared to take a swipe at his 41-year-old ex Lucy, who is thought to be dating sound engineer Martin Wallace.

Speaking at the London Palladium in a bid to raise cash for The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Charity, Jon was joined on stage by the likes of Dara O'Briain, Josh Widdicombe and Judi Love.

Loose Women star Judi’s routine was all about the challenges of dating as a 40-something and in response to her routine, Jon quipped: “It makes me think I'm so happy being single," according to The Sun.

It's said Jon and Lucy remain on good terms. Lucy previously admitted to feeling guilty about their split. Speaking to the Sunday Times, she said: "I don't regret anything. But equally, [over] this next stage I am very much keeping my personal life personal. I sometimes feel guilty that I talked about my daughter and my marriage, and my mum and my dad.

"I think partly I was feeling grateful, grateful that I was getting the work, grateful that I was being interviewed, and feeling like I had to sacrifice and share everything."

She also told OK! Magazine: "People might think I should talk about it [the break up] because we were so public and everyone knew us as a couple, but I won't, and not because there's any animosity. We both agreed that while it might be weird for other people not hearing anything about it, we wouldn't talk about anything to do with the marriage or each other."

The former couple previously starred in Meet The Richardsons, in which they play “exaggerated versions of themselves”, since 2020. At the time of their break-up, a joint statement read: "We have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways.

"As our only priority is managing this difficult transition for our daughter, we would ask that our privacy is respected at this sensitive time to protect her well-being. We will be making no further comment. Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont."
