Jon Voight's Donald Trump Rally Comments Spark Audience Cheers

Actor Jon Voight received rapturous applause during a speech he gave at incoming U.S. President Donald Trump's victory rally.

The Midnight Cowboy actor declared Trump's 2024 presidential election victory to be the "greatest win of all time."

Newsweek contacted Voight's representatives by email on Monday morning for comment.

Why It Matters

Trump named Voight and Hollywood legends Sylvester Stallone and Mel Gibson as his first-ever "special ambassadors" to Hollywood.

"They will serve as Special Envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost much business over the last four years to Foreign Countries, BACK—BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE!" Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on Thursday.

What to Know

Trump will be inaugurated for a second presidential term on Monday and he celebrated over the weekend with a series of inauguration events.

One of those was a rally at a packed arena in Washington, D.C., on Sunday and other celebrities in attendance included music group the Village People and rapper Kid Rock, who both performed at the event as Trump danced on stage with them.

Tech mogul Elon Musk was also there, as was Trump's family and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance.

Voight delivered a speech saying he felt honored to be there, among people "who've all come here to celebrate the greatest win of all time.

"[And] The victory we were all fighting for to save our country. Our democracy. And I'm so grateful that I'm able to say, that Donald J Trump is the 47th president of the United States of America.

"Now he will make America thrive again. He will make America great again, safe again. And, we the people will honor our flag again, the white and the blue, for which it stands one nation under God. With liberty and justice for all," he continued, as the crowd roared in agreement.

Voight added that Trump "fought hard to save this country" and "will bring God back to our nation's truths."

"He will make her thrive again, and he will save the greatest country, America the Beautiful," the actor continued. "I'm proud to call the president of the United States my friend, our friend. My hero, our hero."

"A man who never gave up on the American people. And we the people never gave up on him," Voight concluded.

What Happens Next

Trump is set to begin his second term on Monday after attending his inauguration ceremony.
