Josie Gibson's stormy love life from Big Brother heartbreak to tears live on Loose Women

This Morning presenter Josie Gibson has had plenty of heartbreak on her path to find love as she suffered a public split from her Big Brother co-star and the breakdown of her relationship with the father of her son

This Morning host Josie Gibson has had a rocky relationship history and suffered heartbreak in her time.

The presenter, who is celebrating her 40th birthday today, shot to fame thanks to her stint on Big Brother back in 2010. She even found love on the show, yet it wasn't meant to be. Josie later welcomed her beloved son Reggie with her ex and has been candid about the breakdown of their relationship.

The many heartbreaks have made Josie reassess her love life and what she wants. Speaking on the Loose Women panel, she told star Judi Love: "Judi, where would I fit them in because I'm either at work or I'm looking after my little boy? The thing is, I'm only doing it one time. So if I date somebody, that's time I'm taking away from my little boy and I want to spend as much time as humanely possible with him." Here is a look back at Josie's past relationships...

Big Brother breakup

Josie famously competed in reality show Big Brother in 2010 before going on to become a household name. During her time on the series, she got into a relationship with housemate John James Parton. After leaving Big Brother, the duo confirmed they were dating but their relationship was short-lived as they split a year later.

"We spent every minute of the day with each other in the Big Brother house and moved in straight away after leaving the show. We didn’t want to be apart," she told The Daily Star. "But the honeymoon period was over. We argued all the time. John wanted me to stop weeing with the toilet door open and I wanted him to stop moaning and to see things from my point of view."

Engagement

Josie was engaged to plumber Luke Sanwo in 2012 after he popped the question following their whirlwind six months romance. After their split, Josie said: "The passion is slowly drifting and now it's virtually non-existent. I feel like it's the right thing to do at the moment."

They had a rocky relationship and even exchanged bitter tweets about each other on social media. Josie shared screengrabs of an e-mail he reportedly sent her, and fumed: "Yes you are going to regret this because you had a gf when you sent this message. Pay me back the money I lent you. #snake."

Fake relationship

Josie sparked relationship rumours in 2023 when she went on holiday with a 'mystery man'. The presenter shared a few pictures of her and a man during a trip to Paris but it wasn't as it seemed. She later revealed he was This Morning cameraman Sam Morter, whom she worked with. One picture showed the two looking happy as they held hands in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Alison Hammond called them a beautiful couple, with other stars leaving heart emojis in the comment section. Josie finally came clean and said: "This has got out of hand.... I'm still single.....I couldn't pull a cracker." Sam added: "Okay, I think the joke went too far, Josie!"

Split from son's dad

The TV personality shares her son Reggie-James with her ex-boyfriend Terry. Josie and Terry had known each other for over 20 years but the two split five months after welcoming Reggie into the world in 2019. The Big Brother star said at the time that he kicked her out of his house just before New Year's Eve in 2018 after an explosive row about his OCD battle.

She gave birth to their son, Reggie-James, in September and said their relationship problems began to worsen soon after. At the beginning of the coronavirus lockdown in early 2020, Terry opted to move in with Josie. Josie explained that she didn't want to risk taking Reggie to the supermarket, so picked up the phone and told Terry he should move in with them.

However, once restrictions began easing again, her ex decided to pack up his bags and leave. The star said: "He's [Terry] moved out now. I'm choosing to do it on my own for a little bit at the moment."

Co-star romance

Last year Josie sparked speculation of a romance with presenter Stephen Mulhern after they were spotted hand in hand outside BBC Studios. They appeared cosy and when questioned about the nature of their relationship by Mail Online, Josie told the publication: "I'm in love with Stephen Mulhern. There you go. But story of my life, I don't think he loves me."

However, in December Josie opened up on her relationship status and revealed she is currently single. “It wouldn’t be fair on them,” she said on the subject of partners. “My time is split between my career and my son, where would anyone fit in?” Opening up on her career, Josie added: “I feel like I know myself.

“If anything happened to me tomorrow… well, I’ve had a really good time. I’ve really enjoyed life. It’s been stressful at times – don’t get me wrong – but I’ve had a blast. I’m so lucky. When you reach a milestone birthday, it’s weird how your mind starts changing. As long as everybody’s happy and healthy, then we’re totally winning, aren’t we?”
