Jude Law recently ruined some of the magic from his feel-good classic The Holiday.

Law shattered the illusion for some fans of the beloved cottage from the film, revealing that Kate Winslet's character's charming English home featured in the 2006 film is not, in fact, real. Speaking on BBC Radio 2's The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on Friday, November 22, the actor admitted, "That cottage doesn't exist."

Law, 51, explained that director Nancy Meyers, known for her perfectionist approach, couldn't find the ideal location for the story's setting in Surrey, England. After searching the area without success, she decided to take matters into her own hands. "She toured that whole area and didn't quite find the chocolate-box cottage she was looking for," Law explained in the episode, adding that Meyers "just rented a field, drew it, and had someone build it."

The Closer actor went on to reveal that even the interior scenes of the cottage weren't even filmed on location. "We were shooting in the winter here [in the UK], and every time I'd go in that door, we'd cut, and we shot the interiors in LA about three months later," he confessed.

The romantic comedy is about two women, Iris (played by Winslet) and Amanda (played by Cameron Diaz), who are struggling with their love lives. After meeting online, they decide to swap homes for the holidays — Amanda, a successful businesswoman from Los Angeles, stays in the aforementioned countryside cottage, while Iris, heartbroken from a failed relationship, moves into Amanda's luxurious mansion in California.

Law humorously acknowledged that he had "just burst the bubble," apologizing for spoiling the magic of the movie.

After BBC Radio 2 posted the moment from the interview on Instagram, fans flocked to the comments to reveal their shock.

"And that's how Jude Law stole Christmas," noted one fan, while another agreed, saying, "This was completely unnecessary, why Jude why??? 💔 He says sorry but doesn't look like he is at all 😅."

"I don't mind this at all!! You see, for me I actually prefer that the cottage isn't real and can't be rented...I feel like it keeps it magical✨🎄🥰," a third fan commented, mentioning how they don't mind Law's spoiler.

The Holiday has become a Christmas classic for many. Law expressed his appreciation for the film's lasting popularity, calling it "just, honestly, glorious" to see how much it continues to resonate with audiences every year.
