The caption read: “Rest easy, Liam,” and Justin added a broken red heart over the top of the clip. A voice over read: “Just remember, you are allowed to grieve as a fan. You are allowed to love someone you’ve never met. You are allowed to admire someone for their art. You are allowed to cry, to break, to feel like a part of you is gone.”

1D and Bieber were regulars in the charts back in the 2010 and Liam previously spoke about the Sorry singer in a 2017 interview with Rollacoaster magazine. He said that Justin is a “great guy” with a “really good heart,” and at Payne’s X Factor audition Cheryl even told the future pop star that he “looked a little bit like Justin Bieber”.

Liam replied: “I love that. Thank you very much.” Cheryl and Liam met when the future 1D star was just 14 and the pair went on to have a child together.

They later broke up but continued to co-parent their son Bear, now seven-years-old, and Payne previously said that he saw his child two to three times a week. Cheryl is now heart-breakingly set to raise her son by herself.

Fans, friends and loved ones have been sharing tributes to Liam after the news of his death shocked the world. His fellow One Direction bandmate shared a picture of the pair embracing each other and thanked Liam for supporting him during difficult times in his life.
