Ella Emhoff denied rumors she was hospitalized for a “mental breakdown” after her stepmother, Kamala Harris, lost the 2024 presidential race to Donald Trump.
The daughter of second gentleman Douglas Emhoff responded to the speculation on her Instagram Story Saturday, writing, “OK, I’m just gonna go out and say it.
“There’s a rumor about me having a mental breakdown and getting checked into a hospital. Not true.”
“Also f–k you if you’re out there spreading that,” Ella continued. “There’s nothing wrong with showing emotion and crying. Anyone who says there is probably needs a good cry.”
The 25-year-old also shared she’s dealt with “mental health” struggles her “whole life” and she’s not “ashamed of it.”
The fashion designer was also defended by her mom, Kerstin Emhoff, who referred to the rumors as “MAGA bs” via X on Saturday.
“Leave my kids alone!!! Ella is doing great and spending a lovely day with her mom!” Kerstin responded to a post about Ella’s health.
“Having the ability to show your emotions is something we should all hope for. It’s ok to not feel great right now. We aren’t letting anyone break our family down.”
Ella’s clapback came after she was spotted crying during Harris’ concession speech at Howard University on Wednesday.
