It has been over two years since Kanye West and Adidas parted ways, but one thing fans have learned about the Chicago producer is he has a difficult time letting things go. The 47-year-old artist recently targeted the popular sportswear manufacturer in a lengthy rant.
Ye shared a screenshot of a Google search where, when searching Yeezy, the Adidas website comes up before his personal YZY site. “Members at adidas Stop doing this Stop doing your moves to hold me back,” he wrote in the caption. “Our partnership is done You’re a 60 billion dollar company that froze my accounts Now I’m back on my feet (no pun intended) and I’m not going to stand for this (no pun again).”
The Vultures artist recalled the work he did alongside the company, namely popular sneakers and apparel, and believes that he was mistreated due to standing up for himself. “Yall tried to intimidate and oppress me everyone remembers I had major issues with adidas because of design theft and oppression before ‘the tweet,'” he added, seemingly referring to the anti-semitic remarks that lost him several major deals.
Kanye West turned his attention toward Jerry Lorenzo, whose Fear Of God company recently partnered with Adidas. “Side note yall know Jerry was corny and disloyal for doing work with adidas after the way they handled things,” Ye wrote. “I still showed up to his show that was a copy of my Hollywood bowl show being the so called bigger man but I’m never doing that again for no one It’s Yeezy over everything.”
West believes that many people pretended to stand by him and Yeezy just so they could get ahead, and he will no longer permit people to take advantage of him. “Now they banished,” he added. “NO MORE HUGS Yeezy over everything I’m not here as a platform for anyone else I am here to dominate as I always have.”
Later in his rant, the “Good Life” artist reflected on the success of his YZY brand in 2024. “The Yeezy.com site made 100 million dollars last year and that was with it only being up for 6 months,” he wrote. “I took the site down for 6th months to get control over my Shopify accounts People wanted to make me believe that I couldn’t do this on my own We sold over a million pairs of pods and I’ve been working on ten other styles for the past 2 years.”
Kanye West made a big splash for the YZY brand last year when we paid for his own Super Bowl commercial. The ad was shot on an iPhone while he rode in the back of a car, and he hilariously admitted that he paid so much for the commercial spot that they didn’t have a budget for the actual production of the commercial.
