After the challenging year Kate Middleton went through, she’s ready to put anything negative to rest. The 42-year-old royal family member is reportedly rethinking the feud that has simmered between Prince William and Prince Harry, and she wants the brothers to find a path toward healing in 2025.
That task is easier said than done, according to royal expert Katie Nicholl who spoke to The Sun. “I think the Prince of Wales remains very, very angry and upset and feels very betrayed,” she revealed. But the Princess of Wales has a different view on this hot topic, especially after her cancer battle this year. “But I do think when you go through something like a cancer diagnosis and you go through the sort of journey that she has done, and you confront your own mortality, you realize life is short. It’s far too short for rifts and family feuds.”

Kate has often been described as the peacemaker between William and Harry, but that goodwill seemed to vanish once the Dutch version of Omid Scobie’s book, Endgame, claimed that there were “concerns and conversations about how dark [Prince Archie’s] skin might be when he’s born.” Scobie clarified what happened to People in November 2023, “Having only written and edited the English version of Endgame, I can only comment on that manuscript — which does not name the two individuals [reportedly Kate and King Charles III] who took part in the conversation. I’m happy to hear that the error in the translation of the Dutch edition is being fixed.” Still, the damage was done.
Charles is also looking ahead to a reconciliation because the rift has clouded his reign. “Shortly after the book [Endgame]’s allegations came out, Kate reached out to Meghan to clear the air,” an In Touch Weekly source said in December 2023. “This feud has gotten so unseemly and out of hand, it’s starting to overshadow his reign and the entire monarchy. He wants to heal the rift once and for all.” It doesn’t seem fair for the burden to fall on Kate’s shoulders since it’s her husband and father-in-law’s mess.
Yet after her cancer battle, the Princess of Wales seems to want peace around her, and she may be leading the charge yet again. That is why Nicholl believes that only Kate can make a difference. “And perhaps that will be a role that she will play at some point in healing that rift because I think we look to the royal family as a symbol of unity,” she added. “I think she’s also someone who’s always led by example, in that sort of way of being a role model.”
Prince Willam may be stubborn about the topic, but he has to start realizing that the public is looking to him for leadership — and that includes speaking to his younger brother. Kate is wise to be thinking ahead about their legacy on the throne and hopefully, William will listen.
