Kate Upton Swears 'Scary' Post About ‘Drunk And High’ Dad Was NOT About Husband Justin Verlander!

2 weeks ago 3

Remember that post from Kate Upton a couple of weeks ago? The one about a “drunk and high” dad that alarmed many fans? Well, the model finally gave some clarification about the situation!

For those who need a reminder, here is the deal. Back on November 15, she asked her Instagram followers for guidance about an “emergency” situation involving a 10-year-old girl “traveling alone” with her just “out of rehab” father. According to Kate, he is “drunk and high on pills,” says “he has a gun on him and threatens to SHOOT the taxi driver if he does NOT drop them off on the highway at midnight to walk home.” Whoa. Kate continued:

“Thankfully, the taxi driver refuses and would rather be shot than drop the little girl off on the highway. Is this an emergency? A Crime? Would you be scared for your child?”

Yes! Yes, we would be terrified for the kid! Take a look at the entire post (below):

Awful.

At the time, Kate did not reveal the identity of the dad or give an update on the child’s safety! She did not say anything! There was radio silence from her about the situation for weeks! With so few details about what happened, fans became very worried and started to speculate the Sports Illustrated cover star was talking about her husband, Justin Verlander, and their daughter, Genevieve.

However, one problem with that theory. Their kid is 6 — not 10 years old. It couldn’t have been about them, right? The ages don’t match! But who was it really about? We have answers now. Weeks later, Kate finally spoke out about the post. Right off the bat, Kate insisted on Instagram Stories Monday that the “drunk and high” father in the message was NOT Justin! Phew! She said:

“Hi everyone, I posted a scary emergency situation on my Story and I know many of you have been concerned. But, a few people mistakenly thought the situation involved my husband. To clarify: we do not have a 10-year-old. Our daughter is 6, and Justin would never put her in such a terrifying or life-threatening situation. He is a wonderful father whose unwavering priority is ensuring our daughter is safe, loved, and protected every single day.”

That’s good to hear! However, on a sad note, the terrifying situation does involve a family member. Kate went on to say the post was actually about her sister’s daughter:

“Navigating this situation to protect my niece has been so challenging, especially knowing that her safety is ultimately in the hands of professionals in Brevard. The legal system can be so complex and in my opinion has raised alarming questions about whether the priority is protecting a father’s privacy and privilege over the wellbeing of innocent children.”

Oof. Moving forward, The Other Woman actress and her family are trying their best to make sure her niece is OK. She continued:

“My sister, Justin and I are doing everything we can to protect her. My niece inspires me daily with her bravery and resilience after facing a situation no child should endure.”

Kate concluded her post by thanking “everyone who has supported us” and asking everyone to keep her niece in their “thoughts and continue to advocate for justice for children who cannot protect themselves.” See all her posts (below):
