Katie Holmes reveals her favorite classic fashion designer and her outfit formula

Katie Holmes brought her signature charm and impeccable style to the 2024 grand opening of Ann Taylor's new flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York City. The actress, who starred in Ann Taylor's 2011 campaign, shared her admiration for the brand during the event, saying, "I've always been a fan of Ann Taylor and I love that it's a place for the career woman. There are so many different looks and staple pieces that make life easier in the morning to get out the door."  

Holmes highlighted how Ann Taylor's designs cater to women of all ages and various facets of their lives. "It's for the office, the Christmas office party, and everything in between," she explained. "It's empowering to know you'll find what you need there."  

A Look to Layer For  

Dressed head-to-toe in Ann Taylor, Holmes rocked the Velvet Jayne Trousers Pant paired with a mauve Relaxed Double-Breasted Blazer and a Striped Pocket Tunic Shirt. This sophisticated and versatile outfit is perfectly suited to the winter season. She emphasized the practicality of layering for colder months. "In the winter, my outfit formula is usually based on more layers," she told InStyle. "It's a lot of pants I can put yoga pants underneath, cozy sweaters, and trying to find a balance."  

Holmes credited her polished look to stylist Brie Welch. "Brie is really good, so I give her all the props. I follow what she wears and I'm inspired by her," she revealed.  

Finding Joy on Broadway  

Holmes is embracing the holiday spirit on stage. Currently starring in the Broadway revival of "Our Town," the actress reflected on the magic of performing in New York during the festive season.  

"Being in a Broadway show during the holidays is so exciting," she said, per InStyle. "To experience different audiences and people traveling into the city—it's just such a wonderful energy. Christmas in New York really is always magical, isn't it?"  

 "Sharing the holidays with strangers through the theater—it's truly special."
