Broadcaster Kay Burley has announced she is retiring from Sky News after 36 years, and her replacement is already been tipped.

The shocking news broke this morning whilst Kay was on air, telling viewers that it was an "honour and privilege" to work with Sky for so long.

Now the role is up for grabs, the oddsmaker at BetIdeas has a list of the replacements hoping to take over for Kay - with the likes of Piers Morgan, Dan Walker and her pal Beth Rigby in the running.

Sky News presenter Sarah-Jane Mee has taken the top of the list, with 3/1 odds to replace Burley.

Mee is a regular live news anchor on Sky News during the weekdays, as well as fronting Sky Sports flagship Premier League show Saturday Night Football at the weekends.

Second favourite to replace Burley with 5/1 odds is Sophy Ridge, who has worked with Sky News since 2001. She was also the host of her own political show on the channel, Sophy Ridge on Sunday, from 2017 to 2023.
