Keanu Reeves has played the titular character of the John Wick franchise for four entries and fans have been wondering if he's going to come back for a fifth.
Reeves, 60, recently appeared in an interview alongside director Jeff Fowler with CBS News on Wednesday, December 11 where he spoke about his time working on Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Before the end of the interview the actor was asked about the upcoming John Wick spin-off John Wick: Ballerina and if there were any plans to make a John Wick 5 any time soon.
"You can never say never," he told the outlet before explaining, "My knees right now are saying 'I can't do another John Wick'." He then goes on to admit, " So my heart does but I don't know if my knees can do it."
Despite his most recent comments on the matter, the actor has previously talked about a possible return to the franchise after Ballerina in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that was published after the premiere of John Wick 4 in 2023.
"I don't know, I guess I'm going to have to lean on never say never," he responded when asked if he could see himself reprising the role one more time for a John Wick 5. He also noted, "I mean, I wouldn't do a John Wick film without Chad Stahelski. We'd have to see what that looked like. For me, it feels really right that John Wick finds peace."
Reeves is set to play the legendary assassin in the spin-off starring newcomers Ana De Armas and Norman Reedus. Lance Reddick is coming back to reprise his role as Charon in the movie which takes place between the events of John Wick 3 - Parabellum, and John Wick: Chapter 4. Fans of the franchise can expect to see their favorite hitman in a new story the movie in theaters on June 6, 2025.
