The internet is abuzz with chatter about Kehlani as she and ex-boyfriend Javaughn Young-White battle it out in court over their 5-year-old daughter, Adeya Nomi.

As previously reported by TMZ, Young-White is seeking full custody of their child, citing sexual assault accusations against the alleged leader of the “sex cult” he claims Kehlani was involved in. He also accused the leader of influencing Kehlani to prevent him from seeing their daughter.

This week, alleged court documents filed by Young-White surfaced online, which include a text from Kehlani that raised a lot of eyebrows. The singer was accused of once referring to their 5-year-old daughter as her “wife” in a past life, among other things, making some fans fear that she could have an inappropriate relationship with her toddler.

In response to these allegations, Kehlani took to Instagram on Wednesday, Nov 13 to deny the “heartbreaking” rumors being spread about her. She even shared screenshots of a conversation in which she referred to her daughter as “her wife” in another life, showing that her comment was “lighthearted” and taken out of context.

“I shared what i considered to be a lighthearted recap with my child’s father,” Kehlani wrote in her statement. “Laughing at it & considering it something light & not to be taken serious. to have those screenshots then doctored, the rest of messages left out, to make me seem like i consider myself to be in an inappropriate relationship with my DAUGHTER.. is the most heartbreak thing i’ve ever f***ing heard.”

“but THIS is where i absolutely draw the line,” she continued. “i do NOT, and have NEVER considered myself in any sort of inappropriate relationship with my child. the rest of these absolutely monstrous allegations are being addressed in court. thank you.”

Later that evening, in a series of follow-up posts on her Instagram Story, the singer said that the rumors had left her “exhausted” and “drained.”

“Im supposed to be celebrating grammy nominations with my now grammy nominated child,” she wrote. “And yet, here we are. leave my daughter out of your mouthes. you know NOTHING.”

Kehlani and Young-White seemingly happily co-parented Adeya until August 2024, when Young-White filed for full custody. In his petition, he claimed that their daughter was born via a home birth associated with Kehlani’s religious beliefs. He also accused his ex of omitting his name from the birth certificate and withholding Adeya’s social security number.
