It looks like Kim Kardashian can’t do right from wrong. The reality star is often serving major looks and this fall is no exception. She makes jaws drop dressing as an albino alligator for Halloween, and she has heads turning with her latest ensemble at the 2024 LACMA Art + Film Gala. However, some people are blasting Kim’s look as totally “disrespectful.”
This November, Kim Kardashian steps out in a floor-length gown with a V neckline cut down to her naval. The Kardashians star’s dress provides the perfect setting for her to show off some jewels around her neck – and that, she did. Kim poses for snaps at the event showcasing Princess Diana’s Attallah Cross necklace that hasn’t been seen in public since Lady Di’s death in 1997.
Kim Kardashian slammed as ‘disrespectful’
When Kim serves a look, she really goes to town and there’s no denying she was giving Lady Di’s necklace its shining moment this fall.
However, the mom of four is being slammed by critics as “disrespectful.”
Many people are taking issue with the Hulu star for wearing the $200,000 Lady Diana necklace.

Taking to a Reddit thread, one person blasts: “The point probably was to get some limelight, which she did.”
More cast their minds back to Kim’s previous fashion statements, throwing in some more feedback: “I mean she has been doing too much for her whole career.”
Woah. The harsh criticism isn’t stopping there, either. Another pens: “I think it’s a poor fashion choice. It looks stupid IMO.”
Critics cite the time Kim wore another late icon’s clothing as ammo to pick apart her look: “I mean, she even did Marilyn dirty by pretty much damaging her dress…”
But, Kim’s mom, Kris Jenner, set the record straight on the Monroe dress rumor while appearing on The Late Late Show with James Corden two years ago.
She was asked during a lie detector test: “Did Kim rip the Marilyn dress at the Met Ball?”
Kris replied: “No,” before the result comes in: “True.”
She smiles: “See, we’re clearing everything up today. I like this game.”
So, it looks like some people’s critique of Kim doesn’t really stand.
‘Kim is honoring iconic women’
As tons of people take the opportunity to slam Kim for wearing Lady Diana’s jewels, a huge number are also questioning them, asking why the move is “disrespectful.”
One of Kim’s fans asks: “How’s it disrespectful? It’s not like it was Diana’s prized sentimental necklace.”
Another seems to be an expert on the bold accessory, writing: “Yes it’s the actual necklace, but it actually never really belonged to Diana! It was loaned to her on several occasions, then Kim bought it when it went up for sale.”
More say Kim wearing the necklace is “fair enough” as she “bought it and owns it.”
She purchased the stunning amethyst cross last year at the Royal and Noble collection sale at Sotheby’s auction house, writes CNN.
However, one adds: “…but it could be styled better. But what do I know I’m wearing Costco jeans.”
More weigh in, echoing the same message: “I mean she bought it at auction with her money so why can’t she wear it??”
Others are keen to share their thoughts on what the late princess would’ve thought of Kim and her wearing of the piece: “Would Diana even care, though? She wore some rather risqué for the time outfits herself. She didn’t hate on other women. If she were alive, she might appreciate the tribute.”
Another agrees, writing: “I’m probably going to get downvoted to oblivion but I don’t mind her wearing these items honoring these iconic women, I just wish she would go all the way and pick classy outfits to match.”
“To be fair, Princess Di was a bit rebellious and enjoyed walking the line when it came to “appropriate” clothing,” says another commenter.
More agree, writing: “I think Di would’ve liked her tbh. She was such a sweet soul.”
“I agree entirely, Di loved attention and risk-taking, she loved tricking paps as well. I think she would have loved another woman who thrived in the limelight with her,” says another person on ‘Team Kim’.
