Kim Wilde, the star singer, has opened up about a painful health battle that left her feeling like "this is only going one way".
Speaking to Kate Thornton on her White Wine Question Time podcast, the pop icon revealed how an injury to her back prompted her to make a change.
"I had a slipped disc about a year or so ago. It all went hand in hand, I had a slipped disc and I thought you know what, this is only going one way this age thing, I'm going to get a personal trainer," she confessed.
The 64-year-old continued: "I used to personal train many years ago and I'm back on it with a vengeance, and the other thing I've been learning to do this year which has been super super fun, I've been learning to paddle board."
However, after tackling her health issues head-on with the help of a personal trainer, Kim reported feeling "very well" after seeing significant improvements in her health recently. She expressed: "I've had a fantastic year, and it just keeps getting better.
"I've been working really hard with my personal trainer, and I'm smashing out my personal bests.", reports Surrey Live.

Jason Roberts /Manchester Evening News)When asked about her secret to feeling so good, the star singer shared: "(I've been) weight lifting and stretching and yoga stuff and core stuff. I've been doing that twice for a year now and I'm feeling super super strong, and for a woman of my age it's a very smart thing to do. If you're 64, you should be pulling weights and looking after your body and bones."
In a candid Times interview earlier this year, Kim revealed the positive changes she experienced after deciding to stop drinking alcohol, having confessed to indulging most nights until about a decade ago.
She shared: "Giving up alcohol had a huge impact on both my physical and mental health. I sleep better and think more clearly. Also, my weight is no longer out of control. It has been the best thing for me and I advise anyone about to hit their sixties: arm yourself with a sound health strategy and you'll enjoy it all the more."
Kim's stellar career took off in 1981 with her smash hit 'Kids in America', which soared to number two in the UK charts. Since then, her fame has only grown, with a string of successful hits and a BRIT award for Best British Female solo artist in 1983 under her belt.
And it doesn't look like Kim's illustrious career will be dimming any time soon. She's set to keep touring Europe and the UK, with dates booked until 2026.
