TV presenter Kirstie Allsopp complained of a "chest infection/ lurgy" unlike any other she has had before. The Location, Location, Location presenter, 53, issued a new health update as she admitted a mystery illness had left her bedbound for days.

Taking to X on Saturday night (December 14) she tweeted: "Day 5 in bed, which is unheard of for me, but it does mean I am home alone watching #StrictlyComeDancing Final, and it is such a brilliant, brilliant, brilliant show. So much inspiration & warmth."

In a follow-up tweet she said: "I’m an all weather gal, nothing takes me down. This is extraordinary, drawing the curtains & and cleaning my teeth twice a day is my limit."

Kirstie then tweeted: "Only time I was ever this ill was when I had very severe morning sickness with my youngest."

It comes after she opened up about her health woes earlier in the week.

She wrote: "I have been completely floored by this thing, what the hell is it?"

According to the property show star, she's not the only celebrity to have been struck down by the illness.

"It seems to have hit the celeb circuit particularly hard," she wrote, adding that she is "desperately" searching for a well-known figure to replace her in a Christmas carol concert.

Presenter Jeremy Vine, 59, appeared to agree, commenting: "Everyone has got it."

The Channel 4 host was inundated with messages of support as fans rushed to send Kirstie "get well" messages.

One commented: "Wow, I thought I was bad. I took to bed for one day after realising I was too sick to crack on. Still not 100% but not as bad. Be well soonest."

Another wrote: "Get well soon Kirstie."

A third penned: "I thought I was better but the congestion is still there. I'm on day 8 now."

A fourth shared: "Get well soon Kirstie, hope everyone is looking after you."

The testimonies come as NHS chiefs warn of alarming levels of flu hitting UK hospitals, with three times as many cases as this period last year.
