Kyle Busch's Son Compared to Tiger Woods by NASCAR Insider

1 day ago 2

Brexton Busch, the son of famed NASCAR driver Kyle Busch, is gaining attention at a very young age, earning comparisons to sports legends like Tiger Woods. NASCAR insider Kenny Wallace has commented on the unique ways young racers like Brexton are being nurtured in today's motorsport world.

Wallace, an experienced racer himself, discussed how drastically the nurturing of young talent in NASCAR has evolved from past practices. Reflecting on his own beginnings, he shared memories of starting his career as a mechanic and crew chief before eventually moving to the driver's seat. Today, the opportunities available to young racers like Brexton are starkly different, offering a "hurry-up" route to success, as Wallace puts it.

"Hell, I didn't start racing until I was 22. So nowadays if you don't get these kids into a race car racing at 5 years old, you're considered behind. I remember Tiger Woods being on Johnny Carson's show as a baby, and here, all these years later, oh my god, and then the same with Jeff Gordon. Society doesn't allow you to wait anymore; they want everything hurried up," Wallace shared on his show, Kenny Conversations.

The young racers he's referring to include Brexton Busch, Wyatt Miller, Keelan Harvick, and Owen Larson, all of whom are paving their careers with impressive family heritages pushing them from behind. Brexton, at just nine years old, has achieved 32 race wins at 13 different tracks.

His accomplishments are numerous. He has already secured impressive victories, such as the Millbridge Speedway track championship and a remarkable performance at the Tulsa Shootout's Junior Sprint A-Main event. Here, Brexton took everyone by surprise, leading the race from the start and winning his first Golden Driller trophy. His performance on track displays a level of talent that is rarely seen in someone so young. Wallace took notice of Brexton's racing technique, especially his corner entry, which he sees as a deciding factor for future success in racing.

"When Brexton Busch got the lead, his entry to the corner is everything as a race car driver. How you enter that corner is going to determine what kind of a race car driver you're gonna be. But that Brexton Busch is going to be a good one; every single lap I kept studying him, and his entry was really good. He didn't chop the corner; he wasn't out too far and had a really good entry," Wallace said.

Wallace continued, admitting the dual-edged sword of starting young.

"I really think these parents are doing a wonderful job raising the kids at the racetrack. They're allowing them to get out of the race car, be kids hang out with your friends, but yet all the while teaching them geometry," he stated.

Brexton's rise is buoyed by his family's incredible motorsport legacy. Beginning his racing career at six, Brexton quickly made an impact by winning his first race shortly after starting in the Beginner Box Stock division. His journey is being closely guided by his father, Kyle Busch, a two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion. Brexton is already competing in multiple racing categories, and Kyle has meticulously planned his career path through various stages. This includes junior sprints, micros, Bandoleros, Legend cars, and eventually stepping up to more challenging classes like Late Model Stock and Super Late Models.

Kyle Busch has not only been a strong racer himself but also actively involves his son in a structured development path. His future career steps include aspirations of Brexton perhaps reaching the NASCAR Cup Series by the age of 16. Provided Brexton sustains his impressive trajectory, there is speculation, though lighthearted, that Kyle might consider early retirement to focus solely on Brexton's racing career.
