Los Angeles’ two NBA teams will each play home games Monday after postponing contests last week due to the wildfires that devastated the city.
The league gave the go-ahead for the two teams to resume their home schedules Monday. The Clippers are set to host the Miami Heat at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, and the Lakers will play the San Antonio Spurs at Crypto.com Arena downtown.
Both teams postponed games last week as wildfires ravaged parts of Los Angeles County; the Lakers put off matchups against the Charlotte Hornets and the first of a two-game set with the Spurs, and the Clippers also postponed a game against the Hornets.
The NFL moved Monday’s wild card playoff game between the L.A. Rams and Minnesota Vikings to Arizona; the Rams had been scheduled to host at SoFi Stadium.
At Monday’s game, the Lakers will accept donations to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank’s relief efforts, and the team’s practice facility in El Segundo will begin taking drive-through donations on Tuesday. The Clippers’ Intuit Dome arena is set to host a benefit concert for wildfire relief on Jan. 30.
The Clippers and Lakers are also set to play home games Wednesday. The NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, who also play at Crypto.com Arena, postponed a Jan. 8 home game and are currently on a road trip. The Kings’ next scheduled home game is Jan. 20.
Several L.A. college athletics programs also postponed games last week, although USC’s fourth-ranked women’s basketball team played a home game Sunday. UCLA, ranked No. 1 in women’s hoops, has moved Wednesday’s game against Penn State from Pauley Pavilion to the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach.
