Wilson, who recently played shows in Australia, is celebrating the release of her latest album, Whirlwind, and says it's some of "the best stuff we've ever done".

"She told me, 'Know who you are and stick to it' and it seems so simple but I can see, you get pulled in a million different directions in life... but deep down, I know who I am, and I keep my people close," Wilson says.

"I know what I stand for and what I don't, and I know how I want to treat people and how I want to be treated and as long as I stick to that, [but] there's always room for growth.

"Miranda has influenced a lot of what I do."

"She's just a badass, she does things her own way, marches to the beat of her own drum and I love people like that, I love people that are who they are.

"She's kind of become like my country music big sister."

"She reaches out for me and checks on me, like, 'How's your head and your heart?' and has showed me the ropes... she pours into me," Wilson continues.

"And it shows me how to teach the ones coming up. You've got to have women you can lean on not only in this business but life in general.

"We already knew we had a lot in common, but writing this song together, it was like dang, we have those gypsy spirts... and we know the importance of coming home and planting your feet and reminding yourself what it's all about."
