Lala Kent suggested Tom Schwartz and Tom Sandoval’s bar closed due to Sandoval’s “actions,” addressed her past financial situation with ex Randall Emmett, and hinted at “burning bridges” with certain friends.
The Vanderpump Rules star broke up with Randall in 2021, roughly six months after the birth of their child. Earlier this year, she gave birth to her second kid, who was conceived through intrauterine insemination (IUI).
Last month, the Toms announced that they were closing their bar, Schwartz & Sandy’s. In 2023, their customer count took a hit after reports surfaced that Sandoval had an affair with castmate Rachel Leviss.
“It’s just really sad to me because I think [the bar] really had a lot of potential,” said Lala in an interview for Turning The Tables, via @byewighellodrama on Instagram. “But that entire scandal, you know, it changed people’s lives. So it’s sad that he had to deal with the repercussions of someone else’s actions.”
She later addressed her past “dependen[ce]” on her ex Randall.
“[I’ve now] reached a level of independence that I thought I never would when I was with my ex. I was very emotionally dependent on him. I didn’t think I was financially … dependent on him, but that’s just kind of what happens when you fall into a partnership,” she said. “You live in the same house, someone covers the mortgage, pays the light bill.”
But Lala said she’s now “on my feet,” and she doesn’t need a man for finances or “[even] to procreate.”
At one point, Lala seemed to discuss her friendships with certain castmates. After drama from the latest season, Lala stopped speaking to several co-stars, notably Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney.
“I would tell my kids to be okay with burning bridges,” said Lala. “There’s a lot of talk right now about how I don’t talk to many people that I used to talk to. And I think as you get older, you look for quality, not quantity [in friendships].”
“Cut out anyone who does not bring you peace,” she said. “And be okay with it.”
Bravo recently announced that Vanderpump Rules is replacing the entire cast with servers from Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurants. However, Lala, Schwartz, and Scheana Shay will appear in some capacity on its spinoff The Valley.
