Chuck's longtime friend and podcast cohost Mark Young confirmed the news.

Taking to social media platform X (formally Twitter), Mark wrote: "It is with a broken heart that I tell you that my dear brother has just passed away.

"Life will not be the same without him, RIP brother."

The circumstances around Chuck's death have not been confirmed.

However, Mark was visiting Chuck at home, telling TMZ that Chuck wasn't feeling well and went to lie down.

Chuck later returned to the room to tell him that he was having trouble breathing and Mark called called 911 but Chuck did not make it.

Chuck is best known for being the original host of Wheel of Fortune between 1975 an 1982.

Chuck is survived by his wife Kim and his children, Katherine, Melissa, Michael and Sean.
