I’ve been waiting for a decently-powerful, but also small Android tablet for years now, and Lenovo finally delivered that at CES 2025 with its 8.8-inch Lenovo Legion Tab. And, seemingly proving that there’s an audience for these small yet powerful Android tablets, Lenovo has sold out of the Tab in barely two days.
The Lenovo Legion Tab is an Android tablet built with gaming in mind, with its 8.8-inch 165Hz display backed up by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and 12GB of RAM. It’s a powerful tablet, but thanks to a subtle design, it also makes for a great iPad Mini alternative as we talked about in our hands-on coverage from CES 2025.

The tablet went on sale solely at Lenovo’s website on January 7 for $499 and has since sold out of all inventory. The page has switched to an “Available Soon” status which took over late in the day on January 9, and remains in place today. This comes after stock was “limited” on January 8, but was shipping quickly as we’ve already received a unit that we placed an order for earlier this week.
It’s rather impressive how quickly the Legion Tab has sold in this initial batch. That’s because the important thing to note here is that Lenovo never “officially” announced that the Legion Tab was available for purchase. The company told the media that the tablet would be available “later” in January ahead of CES 2025, and we only happened to stumble across the fact that it was available for purchase several hours after the announcement.
While it’s very possible, arguably likely that Lenovo had a limited number of Legion Tab units ready to go this early, the speed at which they were purchased is likely a side effect of the tablet hitting a market that’s been starved for this sort of option for years now. It’s been a very long time since an Android tablet under 11-inches has packed this sort of power, and for those that have been wanting it, the $499 price tag is a small price to pay.
Did you purchase the Lenovo Legion Tab? Do you plan on doing so?
Lenovo’s website is no longer accepting orders, but we’ll keep an eye our for when they return.
