Lewis Capaldi plots music comeback as he is overheard discussing new album in 2025 with pals at London pub

4 weeks ago 4

I TOLD you in June that Lewis Capaldi had gone back into the studio to have some jamming sessions with his pals.

And now a return appears to be on the cards, after one of my mates bumped into the Scottish superstar in Gerry’s bar in London’s Soho this week.

According to my pal, Lew was talking about working on his third album.

They told me: “Lewis was in Gerry’s with a couple of mates in London having some drinks and talking about his next album.

“He said he wanted to bring it out next year and was clearly really excited.

“Lewis seemed on top form and was really happy and smiley. Everyone who spotted him was clearly starstruck — the man is a legend.”

On top form

The thought of Lewis coming back with new tunes is music to my ears because I loved his 2019 debut Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent and last year’s follow-up, Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent, both of which were No1 albums.

The latter was a brilliant return to form for Lew and spawned No1 singles Forget Me, Pointless and Wish You The Best.

Lewis took a break from the industry last year to focus on his mental health and to get back into the right headspace after admitting that he was struggling on stage.

Addressing his fans after he cut his set at Glastonbury short, Lewis told them: “The fact that this probably won’t come as a surprise doesn’t make it any easier to write, but I’m very sorry to let you know I’m going to be taking a break from touring for the foreseeable future.

“I used to be able to enjoy every second of shows like this and I’d hoped weeks away would sort me out.

“On Saturday it became obvious that I need to spend much more time getting my mental and physical health in order, so I can keep doing everything I love for a long time to come.

“I’m so incredibly sorry to everyone who had planned to come to a show before the end of the year but I need to feel well to perform at the standard you all deserve.

“Playing for you every night is all I’ve ever dreamed of so this has been the most difficult decision of my life. I’ll be back as soon as I possibly can.”

Lewis headed back into the studio with British singer-songwriter Dan D’Lion in June this year, when he was snapped strumming on an acoustic guitar.

A week later we partied alongside him down at Worthy Farm and he was on top form and clearly feeling back to his best.

I can’t wait to hear what he has been working on.

And with Oasis, Coldplay and Beyonce all touring the UK next year, 2025 is shaping up to be amazing for music.

Stars strike a pose for brave snapper

SHE counts the Princess Of Wales among the fans of her photography and now Liz Hatton has been snapping celebrities at the London premiere of Tom Hardy movie Venom.

The teen, who is terminally ill with a rare cancer, was in a packed Leicester Square where she got pictures of the Marvel film’s Hannah Waddingham and Juno Temple at the event.

Liz, who took her position next to legendary showbiz snapper Dave Bennett, also got this glam shot of Love Islander Ekin-Su Culculoglu who looked gorgeous in a black gown.

Liz met royal Kate – who opened up about her own cancer diagnosis in March – when she was invited to Windsor Castle to photograph an investiture ceremony earlier this month.

Kate and Prince William said Liz was “a talented young photographer whose creativity and strength has inspired us both.”

I couldn’t agree more.

But now she faces a tough challenge – what to do next.

Ben in swede spot

HARRY STYLES might be on an extended break from music but let me introduce you to Sweden’s answer to the One Direction heartthrob – Benjamin Ingrosso.

He is already a superstar in his homeland and is now preparing to make it big around the world with his spectacular album Pink Velvet Theatre, which is out today.

In an exclusive chat, Benjamin told us about the comparisons: “I understand it. Both Harry and I are singers, entertainers and we draw inspiration from the Seventies.

“If you listen to this album from start to finish you’ll journey through a lot of emotions. It’s a love story set in the future and in an alternative universe.”

He said he was inspired by Queen, Elton John and Abba for the record, as well as early Noughties artists Franz Ferdinand and Gorillaz, and the combo has clearly paid off.

The singer has just landed a huge record deal in the US.

Proving his work ethic, he said: “I just met my new label and wrote some songs for the next chapter.

“I finished the album last Monday and on Tuesday, I started writing the next one.”

I urge you to give the album a spin this weekend. Not only is he a treat for the eyes, his music is a feast for the ears.

Euros a bed time for Olly

OLLY ALEXANDER has admitted he spent a solitary week in bed as he tried to deal with his Eurovision loss.

After finishing 18th at the May contest in Sweden, the star found it hard to recover.

Olly said: “I had abstained from almost everything. When the final was over, I was like, OK, I’ll get drunk. Then we were all on a flight home the next day just crying. Once all the stress and adrenaline had gone, I needed a week or so in bed, not talking to anyone.”

The scandals at this year’s contest – calls for a boycott over Israel’s participation and the Dutch act being disqualified for an alleged backstage incident – also took their toll.

Speaking on the Sidetracked podcast, Olly added: “It was just mad. Eurovision tries to be apolitical, but it’s actually been political for a long time.”

Rita's new role

RITA ORA has finally been confirmed to host next month’s MTV EMAs in Manchester – three weeks after I revealed she landed the job.

She takes to the stage at the Co-op Live arena on November 10, with the event airing live on MTV UK and Channel 5.

On her third time as host, Rita said: “We’ve got an amazing line-up and surprises in store. We’re all mad fer it!”

Amanda hearts rating

THE drinks are on Amanda Holden and Jordan North as both presenters have managed the coup of attracting thousands of new listeners to their Breakfast shows on Heart radio and Capital respectively.

Industry figures reveal that Capital Breakfast with Jordan North, Chris Stark and Sian Welby has added about 410,000 people since they took over from Roman Kemp in April, with the show now reaching 2.96million listeners.

And Mollie King and Matt Edmondson are now the second most listened to Radio 1 programme, after Greg James’ Breakfast show.
