Liam Gallagher’s blue plaque goes missing from Lidl with £500 offered for its return

A local Lidl in Manchester has suffered a major loss this week after noticing their iconic Liam Gallagher plaque was stolen.

The grocery giant took to X with the devastating news, telling customers that if they happened to come across it and return it to the store, they would be rewarded very handsomely.

‘Don’t look plaque in anger—we need your help!’ the store’s official social media account posted on the platform.

‘Our Liam Gallagher plaque in Manchester, honouring the gig that almost happened, has gone missing! Can you help us bring it home in time for Christmas?

They signed off by adding: ‘We’ve got a £500 Lidl voucher ready and waiting in exchange for its safe return. Email us at dontlookplaqueinanger@lidlforever.com’.

Liam, 52, told a fan in May that he would play a ‘gig in Lidl’ during this ‘Definitely Maybe’ anniversary tour after concerns were raised that Manchester’s Co-op Live arena wouldn’t be up to standard for his show in June.

The £365 million arena had already seen delays due to a ‘technical issue’, including Olivia Rodrigo’s concerts, which were scheduled for May this year but were postponed until Monday, June 30, and Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

Take That announced soon after that they would also be changing their shows, but instead of postponing, they relocated to a rival venue, the AO Arena.

While the arena was ultimately up and running for Liam’s concerns, fans raised concerns and took to X to ask Liam what the plan would be if they weren’t able to perform at the Co-Op.

The Wonderwall singer responded to a fan who asked what plan B would be if he couldn’t be on a show at the arena, with the star simply responding: ‘Gig in Lidl.’

Lidl quickly joined in the gag by installing a plaque at the Newton Heath store in Manchester, paying tribute to the concert that Liam ‘almost’ played there.

It comes after Liam, who is in constant communication with his fans via his X account, recently lashed out after he was questioned whether Oasis would be able to put on a show as good as past years during their reunion tour next year.

‘Got asked a ridiculous question yesterday,’ he wrote. ‘“So are Oasis gonna be as good as you once were because when [some] bands get back together [they are] not as good?”‘

In true Liam fashion, he wasn’t going to let that dig slide and replied: ‘Listen here you C*** even on our bad day we’ll still wipe the floor with majority of bands out there.’

He signed off with his signature ‘LG x’, leaving fans cheering him on in the comments.

‘You’ll prove all those people wrong and it’s gonna be excellent,’ replied Em as Melanie Scabor: ‘Glad you are out here enjoying the hype! We Love it! I do 😇’.

‘Of course, [you’re] gonna be good. It’s gonna be a MASSIVE moment in Rock n Roll history. I don’t think anything compares right now,’ Cecilia agreed.

In addition to a reunion tour, Oasis has been teasing new music. Liam said fans would be ‘blown away’ with the reported six new songs written by Noel, 57.

A source previously told The Sun: ‘Noel has been making new music for a few months and has around six tracks in the bag.

‘Now Liam could always add his vocals remotely, to avoid any bust-ups between the two siblings. It’s of the utmost importance that they are as harmonious as possible ahead of their massive reunion.’
