Liam Payne's tragic death was witnessed by a hotel guest at the CasaSur Palermo hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The One Direction star fell to his death from the balcony of his third floor suite at the hotel on October 16. Liam died from multiple injuries sustained from the balcony fall and suffered "internal and external bleeding".

A witness, Bret Watson, was in a room on the first floor of the hotel with his wedding planner when they saw Liam fall to his death. The onlooker says the sound of Liam's body hitting the ground was "more haunting" than seeing him fall.

He said: "We happened to be looking out of the window of the hotel at the pool area just to show her the view from the hotel and we saw Liam fall." He continued: "We immediately rushed out on the balcony to see what it was and when we looked down you could see that it was Liam laying on the ground.

"He landed face up so we could tell right away that it was Liam and he was motionless." He added: "I don't have a medical background but it looked like he passed away immediately upon impact."

He admitted the experience was "gut-wrenching" before revealing the noise of Liam hitting the ground was the most "haunting" thing. He said: "One, it's just seeing anyone fall like that is heartbreaking, but being able to see it happen and hear the impact on the ground. More haunting than seeing him fall."

It's also clear he's still haunted by the tragic incident as he admitted the "immediate aftermath" of the fall is something that is "burned into" his brain and something he's "never going to forget". He also said he's still "working through" trying to process and understand everything that he and his wedding planner saw.

He previously said of Liam's death: "I was in my hotel room, two floors below and directly below and saw the body fall through, looking out the window, saw the body fall and obviously heard the aftermath and could see his body on the ground afterwards.”

Asked what was going through his mind at the time of the traumatic event, Bret said: "It didn't seem real. You almost had to pinch yourself to understand and process what you were seeing, but it just was an out-of-body experience, surreal.”

Liam's balcony plunge has been linked to a "drug-fuelled "psychotic episode" and according to medial reports, the singer was in a state of total or semi-unconsciousness when he fell. An initial toxicology report has found the singer had cocaine in his body at the time of his death.
